I am with you CTC - I would love to see stitchy's sewing. I wish I could sew!!! My best is I can knit scarves!! So everyone this year is getting a scarf as part of their crimbo pressies!
The raised bed is just about done so hubby should be done this weekend and can help with the rest of the jungle that is supposed to be a garden lol.
We have texted some guy on freecycle for some slabs so hopefully he will get back to us soon.

nothing to add to the sig,
lost one of our chickens this week dont know where she's gone, and it was one of the family favourites.. he name was winky, as she only had one eye, and she was like a little dog, followed us everywhere...so youngest ( age 13) is a bit upset....well alot really but is trying not to show it...so the farm auction is on saturday, so flip knows what we will come home with, as he wants to come with us..
my eggs arrived from ebay, and htey are in the incubator as we speak...so i really hope the 21 days go quickly..
apart from that there is no news and no gossip....
hope everyone is having a good week, gardening and saving.....:beer:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hi everyone,
We have finished our back garden, it looks great. My DH and children have worked really hard.
Going to finish our bathroom and bedroom next. We seem to be having a big push to getting the house 'sorted', which is good cause it certainly needs it.
Only mt peas seem to be growing. Nne of the others seeds seem to have taken. I think I may have to look for some autumn/winter crops now...
Oh, also a friend of mine is coming with flowers to plant up in the raised beds around the patio. I'm not a huge fan of flowers, but I think they will look lovely, not just cause thy are free!!
I have also remembered I have an Ing account and so I plan to put all the extra money I earn in there. Kind of a Daydream/emergency fund...I'm finding that any extra I make seems to beng getting swallowed up in the main account.
I have some extra work to do as well, but just can't seem to get motivated...need a kick in the pants!!
Hope you are all well and the weather has been kind to you. xx0 -

Good vibes from me to both of you too!
Thanks for the heads up on the Builth Show CTC. I'm travelling through Wales on Sunday, so I might give the A40 a miss and use the M4 if the Brecon area is going to be busy. Can't go to the show, 'cos I'm looking at another smallholding (or two!)0 -

Good morning everyone!
Firstly a huge thank you to you all for your good wishes and support. As a very quick update - after a very long wait, DH was in theatre for 4.5 hours and in recovery for 2 hours then went onto High Care at 11pm. Mild panic on my part as last year he was on High Care for 2 weeks as it was a bit "touch and go" for a while.
I was at work yesterday but went to visit at 6 and he had been moved onto a ward, sitting up and looking incredibly healthy!! All is well and should only be in for a couple of days :T
Secondly, I had a huge amount of thinking time whilst sitting aound for a total of ten hours - I've come up with a cunning plan!:D
I read an article many years ago which I suddenly remembered. A couple had approached the owner of a derelict cottage and asked if they could rent it at a minisule rent but renovate it at their own expense. They paid the same over the five years as they would have paid renting at a higher price but they had a fabulous house.
The area we live has lots of landed gentry and massive estates. There are abandoned cottages scattered everywhere - some with land, some in the depths of the woods. Once DH is home and can't do much, I'm going to set him off researching the owners and to draft a suitably worded letter.
It might work, but if I don't try I'll never know.;)
Davesnave - hope you have success. It would be a great boost to the rest of us!Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -

Hi All,
In the NW of Scotland there are two new crofts being created. One 1.85 ha, the other 0.85 ha. These will be eligible for grants to build a croft house - not the full amount of money, but a help.
These crofts are bareland, in a small, but dynamic community which qualifies for all crofting grants.
If anyone requires further details please email me about the open day & contact details.
Further info about what crofting is is available on the crofter's commission website www.crofterscommission.org.uk0
