Thanks RAS - No, you only get a few pounds for fleeces. We delivered them this year. That was an experience - an aircraft hangar filled with fleeces & people sorting them.
I went to learn to spin at night classes in Ullapool, but I would need my own wheel - you need to practice. I was just getting into the swing when the classes stopped. I'll wait until we are out of the caravan - need a bit of room. I tried the spindle but couldn't get that - again that would take practice. I have seen old film of women walking about spinning with a spindle - amazing. Spinning's a bit like patting your head with one hand & making circular movements on your stomache with the other hand - will take a bit of getting used to. My yarn was all thick & thin - artisan!
I bought a loom last year - but it sits dusty in the shed. Quite a few folk here do spin & weave - so no shortage of potential teachers just not the right time.
Had horrendous gales & rain here - haven't had much sleep - too noisy with the building paper whipping & cracking about. The deer are all bellowing away tonight.
Brought the ewes in off the apportionment the other day when the lambs went off. They all look well - touch wood. The rougher ground where they were seems to keep their feet better but I'll need to have a look at them all closer - no one limping though.0 -

Davesnave, Julia's just like on tv (now there's a surprise!) bright, bubbly but then so would I be on her appearance money! Went for chicken feed but ended up with 120L of compost, 40kg of Gelli Goll Farm spuds (to add to the 20kg in the garage and enough to last us through the winter) and the feed. Still, at £20 for the lot I'm not complaining. After free bacon butties, some lovely Celtic Pride steak and other bits and bobs on offer we felt as laden as the car
We unfortunately missed the Quack Pack (performing ducks) and Spice the dancing dog but you cant have everything. Funniest moment was seeing a countrywide van circling Scats advertising an extra 10% off!
Rozee, I take it its not you who put the offer in on the Ciliau Aeron property? Just think of the passing trade.
It must be me getting older but there's a clear pattern of stashing stuff. When Tesco put up its bread flour to £1.29 I bought a load from Lidl at 50p and 60p that will last about 3 months. We have a crate of Branston baked beans (25p a tin) and another crate of chopped toms bought at 20p a can. The winter brings out the worst with a full oil tank, 5 cu metres of logs and the garage full of stored fruit and veg. You go in there and the smell of apples is heavenly0 -
dont worry ! i didnt pay for it...i was given it ! my parents have already re carpeted 1/2 thier house with it! i was given a whole house worth.. it hadnt been walked on hardly... i cant say no! i have the adage " it will come in handy one day!" i will get out there tmorow to check it is ok still ?? i can deliver [have van and trailer] but DO NOT WANT ANYTHING FOR IT. thats what i got it for...some one who needs it.
I would be delighted to accept your offer. If you deliver I can show you round the wreckand introduce you to the chooks etc. But I could collect: my neighbours generously have said whenever I need it I can borrow their cattle trailer
and you can show me the sheep
In that case could make a donation to a charity instead.. there is a farm animal rescue in N. dorset...appropriate given our thread? or anyone of your choice...please.

p.s. im happy to deliver0 -
Afternoon all.
Oooh I love to hear all about other people's lives.
Rozee, did you put in the offer on that place? If you did, I hope you get it and hope it's all you are looking for!
Rhiw, sounds like you had a fab day out. Re: The Branston Baked Beans, have you tasted them and do you like them? I bought 4 tins of Branston spaghetti once but didn't like them at all - I thought they were too Branston pickley and not enough tomato saucey. Actually I think I still have the other 3 tins. Which brings me on to......
Alfie, I am very much like you in that I "gather" stuff. I have a double garage full of stuff too. I have a double bed/matress/headboard, dining room table (although only one chair), various old computers/monitors and accessories, a roll of carpet, decorative bricks, red tiles, old motorcycle leathers, filing cabinet with paperwork in one drawer, gardening stuff in another and diy stuff in another, larger gardening equipment - fork, spade, strimmer (broken), shears, loppers, metal storage cabinets housing books, light fittings and other stuff I know not of. Also, a computer desk, pair of french doors complete with frame, tongue and groove wood, broken up pallets, a wardrobe and a dressing table and various other garage type stuff like tools, electrical stuff, plastic trunking, wood, screws, nails, car parts, motorbike parts. Old fridge used to store painting stuff, working freezer, worksurface for potting and growing veg.
I think most of it is junk but I think I keep most of it because I'm not exactly sure what to do with it or how to dispose of it. I think it's best to leave it all in there until I get my house sorted heatwise otherwise it would just be a big void of space housing a lot of coldness!
Oh well, time I wasn't here.
Have a nice day all, take care,
