you'll find this bread is a bit sweet, so if that doesn't do it for you you can use a bit less sugar. that shouldn't be a problem if you're using yeast meant for a bread machine as it isn't activated by sugar like most dried yeast is, however if you're using yeast meant for baking by hand you will have to be careful of how much sugar you remove (if you you choose to do so)
i think i'll be doing a mix of bread machine dough making and refrigerator dough making, both have their own pros and consfounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
Just read the Complete Tightwad Gazette, well most of it as it gets a bit tedious in places. Sometimes educational, sometimes funny & sometimes just very weird, Amy D comes across as as mad as a monkey, albeit an extremely pleased with herself one.
One of the articles is about eating refrigerator stew, which seems to be stew made of leftovers, but she talks about having it every day, where do the leftovers come from ? Are they someone elses ?Another about the pleasure of wearing a holey pop sock. (I'd go for bare feet before this any day).
Recipes for dips are just pre-produced food mixed together instead of cooking from scratch & dont sound nice at all :rolleyes: . But my goodness wouldnt I like to shop at US prices.
Very entertaining read, which might have a few useful things in it. RecommendedBuilding an emergency fund and starting on the mortgage!0 -

It's a book, ladygrey. The first book developed from a newsletter and resulted in 3 books being published in total. The 3 books were then amalgamated into a forth: The Complete Tightwad Gazette (This link is to Amazon's website and also gives a brief synopsis from others who have purchased the book).
Many of the ideas are very American and not possible to apply to UK living, although it does give food for thoughtA number of US frugality websites use the TWG as a sort of Bible for frugal living and think of Amy D (the author, Amy Dacyczyn as the Frugal Queen!!!
)
I know some people have access to copies via their local library - or you could try asking your local library to purchase a copy (some do) if you are keenly interested to read it.

Actually, funnily enough, I was just thinking about you ... I was replying to a post in this months PMS thread (it's coming up to the end of it's first year! Can you believe it!!?? Well, yes you could because .... ) while I was reflecting back to the start of it .... I happened to notice that ... in a few short days time you will have been around MSE for two whole years!!
So our PMS will mark it's first anniversary (of the concept) on the 9th (tomorrow) and then Saturday will mark *your* 2nd anniversary as an MSE member :j :j :j I'll say it again here .... doesn't time FLY BY!! :eek: LOL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ahhh Queenie - I thought the time was flying by 'cos I was getting older!!! I must say, though, that in the last two years I have learnt soooo much (and saved loads as well) purely thanks to this site (and especially OS, of course). I haven't been posting much for the last few months as I've been having some pretty gruelling treatment which has pretty much wiped me out. I nearly always try to read some posts every day, but don't always get around to saying much!0

I just collected the copy of Tightwad Gazette that I ordered from the library today, and so far I love it - it's really inspiring! I think I may have to buy it after all - so thanks again for the recommendations!0
