Just checked again and they do still sell it, don't know how I missed that one and it's priced at £9.43, only 2 left in stock though.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Ive had mine a few weeks now and have read it cover to cover(complete version).
A woman after my own heart!
I have told people about it costing me more to go to work than to stay home and be frugal and now I have a book to quote it from.
I like her thinking re generic muffins/breads etc.
I found book 3 to be the most american.

My tightwad gazette arrived a few days ago and I haven't put it down! It's so interesting and useful, I've already found loads of ideas I can put into practice and I'm only quarter of the way through. Yes, there are some bits that aren't relevant, but I can just skip those articles. The best bit is that I've noticed OH sneaking a peek at it too :D!

I got mine a few weeks ago and read it cover to cover. OH would find me in a corner reading the book instead of doing my OS stuff. Yes it is American but a lot of it is about getting the OS ethos and it starts to make you think twice about the pennies you spend and how you can make things better (and cheaper) yourself.

It's a bit like reading OS cover to cover (except you can take it bed). Does feel good that there are loads of people out in the big wide world who are doing the same as you (in much the same way as this site does!).
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D
  • Just read the whole of this thread (house is a mess but I just couldn't stop reading) and am off now to check if they have a copy at the library before (probably) buying a copy.

I would love to think I could get my DS and DIL to read it as they spend so much on toys and treats for the two GSs and I think they are giving them totally the wrong message.

I bought mine from Amazon last month and I an slowly working my way through it. I read a little in bed each night and I don't really want to get to the end if it!
I might have an addiction starting, as I've ordered 3 more
money saving books(including Martin's new Thrifty one) from Amazon. I've told my husband he can hide them and give them to me for christmas! :j

There is an interview with Amy that you can listen to online from 1997 at :

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1011205

"Tightwad Gazette editor Amy Dacyczyn joins Ray Suarez for a discussion of the joys of a frugal life and offers listeners advice on how to live cheaply. Some will go great lengths to shave a couple of dimes and save a few bucks."
