sarahs - sorry I didn't get back to report on my HHC. It ended up being pushed a bit as my sister phoned just as I was started. Ended up cooking dinner straight after and then I cooked a spag bol for wed eve (plus at least half for the freezer :D) and sorted lunches for both of us for the next 2 days. Then I washed up and finally I attacked my list!!

I am not a big floor cleaning fan either, we don't have a mop so I use a cloth on my hands and knees...it doesn't get too bad as no pets or kids and we take our shoes off at the front door.

soappie - nice one with the money...i'm intrigued of course!

I'm out tomorrow eve so might do the bathroom tonight though I only did it on Saturday!

    Evening all,

I'm in again this week. Was at work all day today and then went to do my Nana's shopping - yesterday's trip was a disaster as some of the things she had on her list had really short dates on them (I'm not delivering it til Wednesday) or they didn't have them at all. Went to a different branch today and they had half the stuff, but not the rest, so went to local one on way home and they didn't have anything either! At the moment I'm not working tomorrow, Wednesday or Thursday, so I'll be able to go another day, but it's just so frustrating! This is Mr W who are the only place where you can buy the particular things she wants, and I thought they were meant to be a good shop! Am really busy tomorrow evening (have to feed parent's cat whilst they are on holiday and will be going to dinner at MIL's).

    Anyway, rant over!

HSgiftbox.gif Happy Birthday Flower! Hope you've had a good day.

Flying wise today I've hoovered the living room carpet - is becoming a daily occurance as the soot keeps on coming down the chimney cos of the windy weather we've been having lately.

Had better get on and pack my lunchbox in case I'm working tomorrow and try and do some things in the kitchen before I go to bed. Feeling cold and tired, so think I'm going to have an early night and curl up with my wheat bag.

FAO of all Teachers!!! My son is having problem with his math - simple sums which he can recite are fine, but if you ask him to work something out he doesnt seem to be able to do this. For example, he can count in 5's so knows that 20+5=25 but if you ask him what 21+5 is, he doesnt know. Where can i buy work books etc online, or can you suggest a good website which would have printables etc which we could work on at home?

    :D

Can you just get him to count on, ie, 21 plus 1,2,3,4,5 on his fingers? Have only taught maths to struggling 11-15 year olds but that's what we did. Or try http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks1bitesize/numeracy/ he can play games.

  • ETA: Spoke to DH a few mins ago. He has suddenly decided he wants to buy a chainsaw. He does use them at work, but usually borrows his dad's one. He says its becoming a pain to have to keep borrowing it. I can see that. However, they cost £400! He is following one on ebay which is starting at £5 and ends tonight. I've got nothing against him buying one, but he did say he was going to save up for one. I would rather spend the money on getting our debts down, as you can see from my sig we aren't doing very well.
If he doesn't get the bargain one tonight, have you any suggestions on how I can persuade him to wait before getting a normal price one? I have explained that it would be good to get our debts down, as this will decrease our monthly outgoings and then we will have more cash to play with. I kind of feel that while he can keep borrowing one he should. He only uses it once every couple of weeks, if even that much!

Tell him the training course is really really expensive and that it is really dangerous if you don't know what you are doing?

He knows what he's doing, he's been using them for work since he was 16, it's just he doesn't have his own at the moment and has been borrowing one every time he needs it. Thanks for the suggestion tho.
It's ok now I think, we've had a chat and he's going to wait til at least the rent has gone out and then see what the money situation is then. And he's decided to try to get a second hand one, so won't be as expensive as new. Phew! His new chainsaw trousers arrived today, so I think he's feeling one expensive purchase this month is enough! They are much nicer than his old ones and more protective, so at least he won't cut his bits off now! :D
