When in my local tesco today i saw the customer who was in front of me at the self service checkout, claim she had used 2 of her own carrier bags, even though she clearly used ones that were new form the end of the checkout. I know tesco give 1penny per own bag used, how can anyone be this desperate for 2p? Abusing the service will surely just make these offers harder to use. To make matters worse i then saw her picking up receipts that had unused clubcard points on and take them to the customer service desk to have the points added

And? I suppose some others would do the same. I always use the Customer Assistant checkout, as the self service ones really are putting people out of work. I say I have used 9. As for picking up other users disposed reciepts, I cannot understand why people do not use the Clubcard in the first place. Would I do the same.

It seems to me that this customer was acting in the spirit Tesco itself likes to promote: "Every Little Helps".Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

But is'nt claiming you have used your own bags when you have not theft? Some may call it being clever and abusing the system but you are stealing as you are receiving money for a service that you have not used. I'm personally not that bothered by what happened i just feel embarrassed for them, particularly as they were well dressed.ACHIEVING THE AIM SINCE.........0 -
how sure are you that she used new carrier bags? would you testify in court of law?0

Totally agree with you, its just another way for people to scam something for nothing! Would be interesting to see what would happen if, and i know they probably would'nt, tesco did prosecute.ACHIEVING THE AIM SINCE.........0 -

I don't think anyone's suggesting that it actually gets reported to the police! It's more a moan that someone would do something like that.
I agree that it would really irritate me. I have less of a problem with the person getting the points (although it does seem like you'd have to be really desperate and I would be way to embarassed to do it) as they would have been given to the person who actually bought the items. Taking the bags is stealing though. It's irrelevant that it's only a matter of pence, you are taking items that you have not paid for.Wedding 5th September 20150 -
But what does being well dressed have to do with anything? So if you dress in tracksuits you'd be more likely to steal?
Why didn't you confront her or tell customer services?
None of us can do anything about that lady.0 -
Some people even eat a grape off the bunch they're going to buy! But I dont want to get people started on that...!0

Sorry to have to point this out - but if that was the only thing which annoyed you today then - you possibly need to get out more triggerrabbit.
Picking up other people's receipts = initiative.
I refuse to have a club card. We use our own material bags from a desire to lessen landfill but occasionally the amount of shopping we buy exceeds the space in our own bags. When that happens we help ourselves to the free ones.
If the 'overworked' LOL checkout staff can't be bothered to check whether people actually have their own bags or not then it is obviously not a matter of importance! Well it is to YOU but that's another story I guess...0
