It is actually a syrup. My local Tesco has it in a small section that has lots of foreign products. They also do cherry.0 -

CHOCOLATE CRUNCH
Prep time: 5mins – Cooking time: 30mins
Ingredients & Quantities (makes 1 tray – 24 slices)- Plain Flour 425g
- Self Raising Flour 425g
- Sugar 375g
- Margarine (melted) 425g
- Eggs (beaten) 2
- Cocoa 40g
- Vanilla Essence Drops 0.5tsp (I would recommend either a vanilla pod or a few drops of a proper vanilla extract)
Method
- In a large capacity bowl and using the paddle attachment, mix the flour, sugar and cocoa.
- Add the melted margarine and vanilla essence to the dry ingredients and beat in the eggs.
- Press the mixture, evenly into lightly greased tins.
- Brush the tops with water and sprinkle with some additional sugar.
- Oven bake at 150°C/300°F/Gas 2 for at least 30 minutes.
- If you require a 'crunchier' crunch then cook for longer as required. The finished result is of personal preference.
does this come out as a texture a bit like a loose-weave biscuitty texture, with a shredded-wheat type crunch but the mouthfeel of thinner seperate strands?

Unbelievable! I have spent the past 35 years looking for the recipe for cheese pie from school, and right now there is a half one sitting on my counter and the other half is in my belly
I used the first recipe, and it's similar, but will be trying the recipe with the cottage cheese in it tomorrow, as I'm hoping it will be a little closer. Part of my problem may be differences in cheese flavors between the UK and the US, where I live.
Grew up in Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire, and went to Primary there and cheese pie was my favorite. Like so many have posted, we had tables of 8, and 2 servers at each - Our dinner ladies always made extra of this dish, as most of the kids loved it. Served with beans and the loveliest roast potatoes - heavenly!
I am so excited right now - and so full - lol0 -
We had light as a feather steamed sponge with 'juice'. Orange syrup - not to be confused with golden syrup. I think it must've been apricot or mandarin jam let down with water. It was very tangy and yum0

Hi, I'm 22 but went to school in east london between 1995 to 2007, in primary and secondary school they made biscuits and sold them at tuck shop, they were rather thick and had a slight burnt taste to them (that may be because they were left in the oven too long). I'm 6 months pregnant and have the biggest craving for them. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP.0

Don't know if anyone will remember this pudding from school days. Chocolate crunch pie (as I remember it called), it used to be served with minty custard at school. More like a biscuit really. Do any of you super MSE guys happen to have a recipe for it?
Many thanks in advance x.0
