How does the magazine recipy differ?

Ingredient wise, the Woman's Own book one is:

    4oz breadcrumbs
    2lb cooking apples
    2oz brown sugar
    butter (doesn't say how much)
juice and rind of one lemon
    2 tbs syrup
    t tbs water

The ingredients from the Cooking Explained (1969) are:

    1lb cooking apples
    3oz breadcrunbs
    1oz brown sugar
    2 tbs golden syrup
    1 tbs water
rind and juice of half a lemon

The Woman's Own one says serves 4-6, the other one says serves 4.

    1 1/2 oz Cornflour
    7oz granulated sugar
    1/2 pt water
    Vanilla essence

    7oz Marg

    Method:-
Place Cornflour, sugar & water into a pan, mix well - heat over a low heat stirring all the time - do this until it resembles thick custard. Leave to go cold.
Cream marg with an electric whisk. Gradually whisk in the cold Cornflour mix adding vanilla essence at the end to taste......you will have to whisk for about 10 min's. The cream thickens up when piped onto dessert and left in fridge.

    Mock cream - recipe 2

    1/4 pt ideal milk
    1/4 pt water
4 level dessert spoons of Cornflour
    3 oz marg
    2 oz sugar

    Method:-
Blend Cornflour & a little ideal milk. Warm the rest of the milk and water - stir in Cornflour and return to heat stirring all the time until thick. Put aside to cool. Cream marg & sugar. Gradually add Cornflour mixture and beat until its like thick cream, then add vanilla essence.

    Chocolate Crispies

    4oz Marg
    1oz Cocoa powder
    3oz Sugar
    2 tbsp Syrup
    8oz Rice Crispies

    Method:-
Melt Marg & Sugar in a large saucepan, then add Syrup & Cocoa. Stir in the Rice Crispies. Mix well then place in a greased tin, press down. When cold cut into squares.

It has taken me several days, but I got to the end of this thread.

My recipe folder is now overflowing and I have a chocolate crunch cake cooling too. The banana cake I stopped reading to make was scrummy as well.

I am off to the shops to top up on raspberry flavouring now!

Thank you all for a great read.
