  • Today I bought a biggish oil painting for £3 in a charity shop. Its a lovely harbour scene by scottish maritime artist James Watt. This ones definately going to auction.Fingers crossed it will pay the rest of the wedding bills .
Off to the auction house tomorrow morning with loads of stuff I have been collecting.

Lucky you - he's a fab artist, the painting should do well. Well done!
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

my recent find was a gorgeous plum vintage looking bag for 50p from a church summer fair in poole. it has no marks on it either, looks brand new. unfortunately there are no labels on it though. my auntie also picked up a topshop beach bag and matching purse for 30p :)

the school my mum works at also had a summer fair yesterday, and we won so much great stuff on the raffle (3 tickets for a £1) and it's great because you can pick whatever prize you want on the table. in total we probably spent a tenner.

me, my mum, my dad and my grandma together ended up winning:
    - agent provocateur perfume and massage oil.
    - opium perfume.
    - bottle of red wine.
    - bottle of white wine.
    - ron miel canario artemi honey rum
    - bottle of bucks fizz
    - m&s address book
    - 3 cute mini travel bags for underwear, make up, etc.
    - gilette mini golf set

    :j
BEST WINS - beyonce tickets, lfwe tickets, maybelline calendar and makeup, pair of legally blonde tickets x 3 :), tickets for valentine's day premiere, breakfast at tiffany's dvd, jaeger handbag and purse, sony digital radio, paul's boutique bag set.

WINS 2011 - £50 urban outfitters vouchers, lumie clear skin treatment (worth £149)

I was recently in a charity shop and the worker waited for a lady who came in and then took her upstairs saying, 'I've got some things that will interest you'.....fast forward to another shop, same lady wanders in then I spot her in an antiques market where she has a stall........she was clearly being given first choice on FREELY DONATED ITEMS, which she obviously was selling on for profit.

To be frank I was a bit cheesed off that these items were'nt offered to everyone but there you go, the charity shops are also looking after their profit margins, you just look after yours if you do buy to sell on.

But at least they are selling the things - otherwise they may just sit on the rails for 6 weeks & then end up in the ragman's bags. And it may have been specific or vintage items which are then sold with the charity getting commission or a percentage of any profit.
