Anyone know of any good midweek carboots around Leeds? Or any good charity shops that only open specific days? I know there's a hospice one near Headingley that's only open twice a week...

Just found out i've lost my job so am sure I can kill many a summer hour charity/boot shopping :D
    Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j
  • MrsIDS,
this was one near Bournemouth. I have never seen a radley bag at a boot sale before, let alone several.

I get there really early 6.30 with all the traders, enjoy going that time and I leave about 8-8.30.

Car booting is a hobby of mine that I love, I never buy to sell on, I just love a bargain.
  • Wow I love this thread!

I'm an absolute car boot and charity fanatic -

I usually go to a large one in surrey/west sussex on a sunday and always bag a bargain, my favourite things are headscalves - got a hermes one for 30p, and some little old lady sold me 6 gorgeous ones (vintage) for £1

I love pin badges and look out for unique ones that are made of good material - i prefer enamel ones too. not sure if they are worth much as I enjoy wearing them

I have also bagged a moschino handbag which I use all the time, it was £1.70

I am studying fashion and photography and have started picking up interesting pieces to use in photoshoots:

a vintage rabbit fur berret £1
    hermes balloon print 80s jacket - 70p
yves saint laurent belt - 70p (think this is worth a lot!)
lots of unusual outfits/fancy dress etc

I am now in north devon for a month or so and they have boot sales on wednesday, saturday and sunday so I am in heaven!!!

I'm now inspired to go find stuff to sell on ebay (I always see kurt geiger and jaeger shoes in boxes but as not my size i never buy - now I'm going to flog them on ebay!)

thanks for inspiring me, I'm a skint student and it never dawned on me I could sell stuff! I have just got £50 back from work experience expenses and going to see how much money I can turn it into and maybe me and ebay can be friends again!!

    thanks!:D
    SPC5 #1651 total so far: £78.59
  • Bought a few things today in charity shops.3 of them were broken whenI unwrapped them so bit annoyed about that,I will do my own wrapping in future.
I got some lovely powder blue doulton teacups and saucers,10 of each for £5 in total,a bargain.
I bought a denby stoneware basket style pottery dish ,brown stripes and a sort of very pale green inside.Paid £2 for it but cant find it anywhere online to see how much it is worth.
My best buy today was a flow blue pot,I love my blue and white, paid £4 and saw it reduced from £125 to £95 on amazon this morning.I should sell that but I love it so may keep it for myself.

sotonsaverjen where do you go in North Devon?
  • Hehe- there are some serious baragins there- pretty impressive stuff!

I went to a car boot in Coventry last week and bought an entire vintage tea set for £3!

eBay's always good for vintage stuff though. This might be of interest - basically ebay are now putting up daily deals every morning on the homepage that are loads more cheaper than the standard eBay price - and some of them are awesome.

It took ages to get round my usual bootsale yesterday, and all I'd bought was a Next dress for £3 (BNWT £34.99). Then at just about the last stall, as I got to it, the seller reduced everything to 50p per item. I got a big chunky candle and wooden holder, Knickerbox camisole (BNWT), Gerald Darel shirt, plain black Wallis trousers (BNWT £30), white linen pedal pushers, H&M black cardi, and cream Zara trousers.
Now need to have a clearout!
