Wow...apart from the clothes we like the same things. I too cannot bear to buy from clothes shops and have no qualms with second hand.

How fantastic that you made a business out of this clothing. Bet the people who sell it dead cheap would kick themselves if they knew.
I love cakestands and very rarely would find them and if I did they were expensive. Well ive just discovered a house clearance shop that lets me have the 2 or 3 teir porcelein ones for 3 for a tenner...result!! I have too many for my house now so have to pass them on.

Ones mans junk if definately someone elses treasure. I think we should all keep up the good work.

    Long live the second handers.

Don't sell the cake stands! They look fab used for jewellery storage on the dressing table and gorgeous in the bathroom loaded with pretty soaps, our Poundland even has some bath bombs that look like cup cakes.
  • how funny... ive just been checking my two local freecycle groups (like i do most days) and there was a post asking for the happy land groom!
i thought ive read that before!

    hello fellow freecycler neighbour!

Hello Curious George - yes it's me looking for the Groom :-) no luck yet so will stick with trawling the boot sales and looking at the oddments posted on ebay!

I dont wear jewellery or own a dressing table but may find one at a car boot.lol) I dont have anywhere in my bathroom to keep them as I have enamel french style buckets things to keep all my toiletries etc in.

I can go booting this weekend and already have withdrawal!

    Hello gang!

Just reporting in before I get called for my veggie sausage sandwich.

Scout jumble sale last night wasn't very good, snaffled some very loud 1980's sweaters, an O'Neill teeshirt with the tags on, some paisley scarves, a vintage Cornish Fisherman's smock and a silk kimono wrap in blue with bird embroidery. BF got some books. Spent £2.20!

Car boot sale today was very busy, didn't get there till late as we'd had a late night. Managed to find:
Vintage full length faux fur coat (£2) and a trapeze-style faux fur evening jacket (£1).
1970's ladies' orange raincoat with the tags attached, vintage ladies' tweed coat, 1960's geeky guys' zip-up anorak, South American fringed wool poncho (made in Equador) and a 1970's long length cardi (looks very Missoni) - the nice man let me have them all for £2
Ikea orange rug (new with tags) ideal for the campervan £1
    Tootal cravat 50p
Black suede handbag with bronze leather corsage (Made in Cyprus) 50p
1950's glass-top with a flamenco dancer design coffee table with screw-off legs £3
1970's kaftan (full length with a groovy floral print ) 30p
3 pairs of 1980's large-sized earrings in enamel - yellow treble clef, navy and white anchors and yellow ballerinas (very Tatty Devine) 50p the set
    Boxed Sprouter kit 50p

    Anyone else get any bargains?

PS: Notlongnow - My dressing table was from a car boot sale! Edwardian with triple mirrors and barley-sugar legs. It had even been scumble-glazed (saving us the trouble).

  • Hi well done on your bargains everyone!

I haven't been to any car boots for a couple of weeks!

But tomorrow i am going to sell at one!
Hopefully the weather will stay nice and there will be lots of buyers! :rotfl:
  • A brand new very brightly painted real Terramundi, in box with all its tags of £2.50. Wanted one for ages and baulked at the huge price tags - but now I've no excuse for saving my £2's have I?

Galt magnet set 10p - which DS is now absorbed in
several boys books - 10p each
Minnie childs case, very grubby for 20p - quick wash in vanish and its as good as new

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.
