What's your point?
We pay the price the shops ask. There have been four times in the past when I have noticed something in a chazza which I know is worth far more than they have marked it at. In those cases, I have pointed it out to the staff. Once, it was removed from sale whilst they checked. The other three times they said 'Oh well, it's been priced now'.
If you're suggestng that it's morally unsound to make a profit from something that you pick up at a lower price just because it's from a charity shop, I suggest you go wrap your head around the figures that most charities actually spend their income on. I personally think the continual 'REFIT' of charity shops is morally and fiscally unsound, but hey, who am I to judge! No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!
Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target0 -

I agree, the charity shop makes money from people like us who are looking to make a few quid, i also take back anything i can't sell plus clothes i don't wear/don't fit. If you go into a charity shop (well around here anyway) the customers are mainly dealers looking for a bargain. I often see a local record dealer trawling through the charity shops looking to make money on rare records.0 -
I'm crossing fingers that the rain stays away today so I can go booting tomorrow and snaffle some bargains!!! Got a table top to go to and hopefully they will be selling clothes so can get my fix!!
I didn't think propsnfrocks was making any point but it seems its bothered people. We're not hurting anyone, in my eyes we're recycling and giving to charity whilst helping keep a roof over our heads in a very MSE way, some may not agree with it but its not a crime. Those who do it as a business pay their tax so I can't see any moral implications.... better than it all going in the bin and filling up our landfills
looking forward to hearing everybody's bargains this weekendSPC5 #1651 total so far: £78.590 -
I'm so pleased the weather forecast is good for Sunday in my area, really looking forward to going to the boot sales...haven't been for 5 weeks now due to rain and visitng family over the last two weekends. Lets not turn this into a debate about whether people should make money on things from charity shops or whether charity shops spend too much money on things etc etc etc. I get so fed up on these type of arguments on MSE and this is my favourite thread so please don't spoil it. If someone doesn't like the thread or the spirit of the thread then don't read it or don't bother moaning about it. Haven't you got anything better to do with your time? Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550

i totally agree with you jesarosei mean so what if we buy to sell or buy to keep. the charity shops are making their money, and we are making ours. i do hope this doesn't turn into a arguement, because if someone can't say anything good on our thread then why bother at all. and thank-you for saying this is your favourite thread, and thank-you to all of those who have continued to share their baragins!
