Watched this this evening - what an odd idea for a programme! It could have been awful, but the light-hearted way the "contestents" took it kept it fun. She didn't teach them much, but at least she showed them the joys of vinegar and bicarb - I wouldnt have thought of bicarb for chocolate (although I spect I would have asked/searched on here and got the same tip
)

this program is fab! essential viewing. yeah, she's a bit extreme - ultra organised but has loads of fab ideas and the program is very entertaining. i'm off to fold my towels lol!:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

I saw one of the Perfect Housewife programmes & ended up feeling terribly sorry for Anthea Turner, what a sad & empty life she must lead if she has time to worry about how her towels are folded. Yes it would be nice to have a tidy home, but as I watched my 18 month old grandson tramping mud in though my patio doors, coming in to give me a kiss. I rather have clutter & happiness, than be so uptight.
YMMV1

Sorry - But she has the sort of face I would never get tired of slapping, she is obnoxious.The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0

I agree with Sue Rob who put it perfectly - as I console myself with the thought that my house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy.
At the moment as I have hurt my leg it is very "happy" lol.
Anthea may well have a spotless house but it will never be a real home where people can be relaxed and at ease.
Have not seen the programme even though I have freeview but think it would freak me out."This site is addictive!"

I totally agree with what most people have already said - that there are some good tips but she drives me mental.
I grew up in a happy, fairly disorganised home with a stay at home mum who didn't enjoy housework very much. I have slob tendencies myself and while I don't want to live in squalor, a bit of clutter and mess never hurt anybody.
In the past I considered going halves on buying a house with one of my best friends. Financially it would be ideal - she has a large amount of capital from an inheritance but is disabled and can't earn a full-time income, whereas I earn quite well and could easily get a mortgage for half a house but have limited savings for a deposit. Then I thought - what am I thinking? I sometimes find dirty mugs in my room after losing them for a week. She makes her guests take off their shoes the second they enter her flat (and it's not like she's got cream carpets) and won't have her friends over if her back is playing up and she's prevented from playing the perfect hostess. I love her but I COULDN'T live with her, and I'm doubtful she could live with me!
And this is somebody I LIKE. Imagine living with Anthea Turner :rolleyes:Operation Get in Shape
