You are so note a control freak - I cant beleive the girls would do that to you expecially when you bought their dresses and shoes etc already.

I got married in December and my best friend who was also 'best' woman told me the night before the wedding she couldnt make it as her car had broken down. She was supposed to read a poem at the church and hold the rings. I have not spoken to her since! There are such things as trains, especially as I live in London!
  • I've got the same problem with my SISTER would you believe - she hasnt cancelled yet but I can see it coming - I have bought dresses shoes jewellry, hair bits thankyou gifts and cards etc and because her friend (who she hasnt even seen for 5 yrs) has asked her to be BM as well 2 months after my wedding all of a sudden she can't afford the hen night (a meal and a trawl round the closest city and a minibus back) which isnt exactly extravagant - and wanted me to merge tohe hen nights as I know the other bride (altho she is most def my sisters friend) altho we live 100 miles apart, gggrrrrrrrrr

My sister does manage to afford to be out on the lash 3 nights a week at £20 a pop tho...

    Rant over
  • Well....

Wednesday night, getting ready to travel home (260 miles away) so could meet my sister etc at Gatwick, check the booking online, only for it to say 'you can not view this booking on line as it has been cancelled in full'

Called the company up (about half hour before we were supposed to leave for my train), for them to say that the ex-bridesmaid had actually cancelled the whole booking!(In her words, from the email they read out to me on the phone, 'the bride does not wish us to be there anymore so I wish to cancel the whole booking') Despite telling my h2b all the details, where to fly from, name of the company etc etc. Was in floods of tears at this point as was getting ready to go down for this, plus other people had paid money and lost it. Was gutted as company confirmed that there was nothing we could do.

Still travelled down south, called company up next day to complain as even though they were aware the holiday was being cancelled, they still told us we could go (when i spoke to them tuesday), so I had paid for extra luggage, bought travel insurance etc etc when the holiday was never going to happen. Must have spoken to the right person though...they said they couldn't beleive what had happened, spoke to their manager who reinstated our holiday-amazing!

So we all went to Prague and had a fab time (without the said bridesmaids).

Would now reccomend 'onthebeach' travel company as they have been VERY helpful!
  • By the way Little Miss& Vicxen thats shocking!! Puts my little problem into perspective(sp), bet you weren't impressed!!!!

when I started to read your last post my heart sank. I couldn't believe these losers that used to be your friends had cancelled your hen night. That is pure devilment and if it weren't for the fact that my post would probably get deleted I have told you what I thought of them! First they try to ruin your wedding then your hen night! Unbelieveable!

However, as I read the rest of your post I can't tell you how pleased I am that you did manage to go on your hen weekend and had a great time aswell! Good on this company for reinstating your holiday! It just goes to show that there are still decent people out there!

You will have the most amazing day of your life when you get married and even more so knowing that the people who are there are true friends and you mean alot to them.

So glad you had a great time in Prague! Hope your 'pals' had a miserable time at home!

I'm so glad you managed to get your hen weekend after all! I really think you need to post your story on Etiquette Hell (after seeing the link earlier in this thread, I lost myself for a good couple of days reading it all, in absolute horror!)

I was horrified to read about the trouble your bridesmaids put you to...but to cancel the whole hen-trip appears very spiteful. I am so pleased it turned out ok in the end for you.
All I can say is enjoy the run up to your wedding with your true friends around you and then celebrate in style on the day ! Don't waste your thoughts on those that let you down, they are the losers in the end.
I wish you and your Htobe the very best  xx
