Hey Maz
Ohhh I need runnerly type advice - I ran 7k last Wednesday, 3.5k on Sunday, 5k on Wednesday - when shall I run again and how far?
My ankle feels a bit achey - nothing major, and I think it would ease once I started running but i don't want to give myself an injury.
I can get to the gym today, tomorrow and Sunday.
I think I need to start running outside a bit again too, but I only want to do very short distances to start with.
Anyone have any suggestions? I really really want to get to 10k asap, but without killing myself in the process!
(If it was light enough, I would just do a very short outdoor run tonight, and then 7k on the treadmill on Sunday, but by the time Stu picks the kids up this evening it will be too late and too dark.)
I don't really know much runnerly advice kinda stuff hun.... i'm just winging it!! lol!
maybe you need new trainers if you have sore ankle... do i remember rightly that you were putting off getting trainers until you were sure you were gonna stick at it?
Re the distance thing, if you are going to get outside tonight go for even 3k (1.8miles similar to what you and i did on sunday when supersammy was off ahead!) to get used to being outside and the road surface. Plus it will only take you 30 mins, which is possible in street lit areas or before darkness falls......
Then try and do a tready 8km next time, sunday? which is 5 miles and you are only aiming for 6 really for the 10k!! so you're almost there... it's just the outside thing that you need to work on... but as long as you have the distance under your belt in some form then you are laughing!! well done babes, you're doing brilliantly!
I've got 4.5miles tomorrow as i'm now down for a 10k on 12th of April, so have to up my plan a notch or six!! i needed the boot up the bum TBH, so no bad thing!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Taking that first step is the hardest and most important bit of all, so well done. Grab your statements, paperwork and a coffee, and chat to us in between to make it all seem more fun.....lol!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Welcome ejt87.....come on in....as you can see we are a sane lot...
bookie, you are right....sod the post
Snaggles....if this is in any way helpful....according to my running weekend you should do four runs a week. A long run - no distance just time...in my case an hour to start and add five mins every week. You could maybe start with half an hour 40 mins. Then a threshold run.....warm up sloooooowly then run as fast as you can (in my case 6 mins - in your case a minute and build up) then walk for a minute or two. Then run really fast. Do this three times and then slowly jog to recover. Then another run should be a 20 quite fast run (after warm up) don't do a distance just do a circuit of 20 mins and every week try to run a bit further on the circuit. Finally last run of the week should be a 20 min recovery run which is a reallllllly really slow run (which may even be a walk).
One is endurance, one cv, one does speeed and the other lets you get over the rest.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
