Dilemma: 2 iphones sent by accident - should I inform O2?

Hi I placed an order for the reconditioned 8GB iphone the other day, and was surprised to find 2 boxes delivered to my home. One was the 8GB iphone reconditioned, and the second box had a NEW 8GB iphone. Obviously O2 have made some sort of mistake, but I was wondering what I should do? Is it likely that O2 will notice they have sent out 2, and thus ask for it back...or should I inform them?

Could probably keep it, Then again that would be dishonest0

Does it say on the invoice that theres 2 iphones? If so, you'd be a little stuck if/when they ask you to return one 6 months down the line and you cannot claim you never had 2..
I'd personally send the new one back as I wouldn't want shooting in the foot at a later time.0 -
We could all tell you what to do - but only your honesty and conscience will be able to help you.
If in doubt send the new Iphone to me and I will ensure O2 get it :rolleyes:0 -
Got 2 separate boxes...so 2 separate invoices. My 8GB reconditioned invoice does not say anything about the new one on it. I should check my account because knowing O2 they have probably charged me for the new iphone (£99). I am tempted to keep it (they charge too much for iphone anyways!), but like you said, am worried that they might clock on later on...0

I would definantly check. Sounds like they've ordered 2 from your account, resulting in adding £97 charge for the new handset. If you ever call aswell, the agent could see it on the orders screen that 2 were sent out.. which could turn a little complicated!0 -

But having said, paying £99 for an "extra" iphone is still a steal considering how much they are worth. Damn it is so hard to do the moral thing in this situation!

I guess I should call them and ask them why there is a £99 charge, and if the agent notices there were 2 orders, I should come clean.

Give them a call and ask them to check your recent orders because you were trying to put a pay as you go handset thru on the internet and it wouldnt go through. Then say something like, "oh, while your there, is there any chance you could tell me what my order history is.. " :rotfl:
Worth a go, customer service won't care.. they'd probabily tell you to keep one if you said you received 2.. :beer:0 -
It would, as sporedude says, be dishonest to keep it. But returning it should not leave you out of pocket. I would send an email using their standard customer service address pointing this out and requesting them to make arrangements to collect within (say) 7 days or you will treat the goods as unsolicited. They can send a courier at your convenience, prepay the postage or put you in funds to post it back special delivery (get a receipt!). If they do not, or do not pay in advance or do not respond to your timescale it is reasonable to treat it as unsolicited. I suspect that customer services will turn this round remarkably quickly.
Why not post back on this forum to tell us how quickly customer services can respond when their money is at stake rather than yours!0 -
I'm presuming u signed for both phones? That's were they will have the proof.
Send it back it isn't worth the hassle. Good luck xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
The only way this wont come back on you is if the refurb has been put through as a replacement order and not an upgrade. It will end up being picked up otherwise, in fact, even if they are both put through as upgrades I think it would be picked up, I've picked it up before now on customers accounts because an advisor would check if its been returned. I agree with pretty much everything ric4vic says. Also if you have insurance you have to know which phone to use because if you use your sim in the wrong one then you wont be covered.
If you have online billing or an online account then you can see your order history on there.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
