Totally what I was thinking. Could have bits of the hotel or facilities that may not be finished ... but surely everything in the room will be shiney-new!
As my OH said; "If we don't like it, we just won't spend much time there!"
I suppose my main concern was that if it really was behind schedule and the hotel didn't open on time, would they sort us out somewhere else to stay, or simple refund the money and throw us out in the street!?"The most desirable trait of the internet is the ability to attribute quotes to anyone."

Just booked 2 nights in London for £150. Really pleased as it is a considerable saving.0

Many, many thanks to the OP and all other contributors! I've booked flights to NY and was worrying that I wouldn't be able to afford the 7 night's worth of hotels I needed! Phew!
I've just got a general question. I've noticed that a brand new Holiday Inn is opening in NYC literally a week before we travel. Would people on here advise booking into a brand new hotel or not? I can see pros and cons, but what do you guys reckon?!
Be aware that sometimes the opening dates can slip so the hotel may NOT be open when you get there. :eek:0 -

Yup, that was my main worry!
The website does say;Announcements
The Holiday Inn New York City Midtown 31st Street is now accepting reservations for arrivals after September 18, 2011.
But we'll see! I've got plenty of time to look at other hotels at that sort of price that also have reviews on TripAdvisor!"The most desirable trait of the internet is the ability to attribute quotes to anyone."

I am sure that that IHG would have to relocate you if they fail to have the hotel ready in time. They are such a big hotel chain that they would not want to risk their reputation.0

Can I ask you, did hotel charge your card right away at time of booking? Is it going to be international transaction (Hotel in US) that bank will charge me for?
I've used it a few times on both east and west coast over the past 18 months. Each time I was charged on departure, not in advance, so that payment was in US$.
I must also advise that on a couple of occassions I have been asked for the F&F Voucher. So remember to take a few with you that you can fill in if asked.0 -
I have just booked a friends and family rate for the Holiday Inn Reims tomorrow night. Will they honour this as the voucher states must be booked before 30/9/10 which it obviously wasn't? I don't want to turn up and be charged full price. Any advice ?0
