I was just looking at hotels in San Diego and Friends & Family is giving nearly $30 discount at some places. That is great!
Has anybody booked F&F for hotel in USA?

Yes, I used it for New York last year with no problem. Also booked through F&F for San Francisco for later this month.

Can I ask you, did hotel charge your card right away at time of booking? Is it going to be international transaction (Hotel in US) that bank will charge me for?

  • Under 2 for 1 deal

Staying 2 nights, avg nightly rate: £44.50

When I click on confirm, total price £89.00

My understanding, 1 night £44.50, next night free = £44.50

    Am I missing something? :o

Each time I've used F+F, either in the UK or the USA, my card has been charged a few days before arrival.

The USA one's have been charged in $, and then converted to £'s.

Holiday inn divide the cost between the two nights, so really there rate is £89 per night.

Hi, here is how it works, follow this link, search for hotel in NY, not all hotels are participating though. If you find one with good price, book it. On this link is PDF voucher that you print and fill with hand, quoting Mr
Anthony Bainbridge's name on top of the voucher.
This voucher then needs to be presented at reception when checking in.
Hope it helps, this is how I understood it;)

Friends and family rate - FRIENDS AND FAMILY RATE (IHG endorsed link)

This rate is open to Friends and Family of IHG employees - the link above was sent to IHG by a senior manager so is okay to use.

You need to print out a voucher and fill in the employees name as "Anthony Bainbridge", along with details of your reservation from your confirmation email. Update 6th June: - It's really important you take this with you to the hotel or else in theory you could be charged full rate, or lose your deposit. Please don't forget - it's worth at least saving the voucher when you make your booking!

Many, many thanks to the OP and all other contributors! I've booked flights to NY and was worrying that I wouldn't be able to afford the 7 night's worth of hotels I needed! Phew!

I've just got a general question. I've noticed that a brand new Holiday Inn is opening in NYC literally a week before we travel. Would people on here advise booking into a brand new hotel or not? I can see pros and cons, but what do you guys reckon?! :D

  • I would, I like new! I know they often have teething problems but it is so nice to have brand new bed etc.
