Things like verbal abuse and damage I can deal with. I don't like the idea of arson though, that could kill someone.
The more I read about these boys (I'm googling them!) the more I'm put off the house.
You have small children? If not their safety, what about the influence people like that might have over your own children? We lived in one house and I was relieved to move, we had a lovely green where the kids could play and I could watch from the window but my son's 'friend' was absolutely dreadful. He was eight and in my presence was telling my son that when you get to year 3 you can swear at the teachers and walk out of the classroom
Dealing with things like verbal abuse and damage is one thing but knowingly buying into it?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

You may be able to put up with verbal abuse - but what about your kids & sister? Could you take that? I couldnt.NEVER ASSUME! :rolleyes:0 -

you say you could live with it, but why should you, if you have kids living with you why should they have to put up with it aswell. That kind of situation can get stessful very quickly and spill out of control. To them the more you react the more fun it will be, plus you would be newbies on the road, fresh meat for them so to speak.
I think i'd probably end up inside if i lived opposite them, i'd stick them all in the boot and drive to some woods!!:oListen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
I suspect the only way to do it is to be rougher than them.0

Judging by the replies so far, the answer is that you would have no resale whatsoever. So if it did prove horrible, you couldn't even get away from them.
I would steer clear of them. The mantra is the worst house in the best road, not the best house in the worst road. I've certainly made large expensive mistakes with being in the wrong area.
Good luck

We want a quiet life. I think we are going to have to look elsewhere, but it's hard because there's nothing else on the market in Newhaven that is comparable to this house.
I know people say mean things about Newhaven (chav town, dump etc) but we are happy there. Newhaven is great for mums with small kids. There is a surestart childrens centre, and I manage to get to at least one toddler group every day, somedays, two. It has several good primary schools (but one rubbish secondary school). Seaford (next town along) has a brilliant soft play area. And it's not too far from Brighton, if you want to go shopping. There are lots of good people living in Newhaven, it's just a pity we have a small minority who spoil it.0 -
If you put up cameras etc, it might entice them.....they may well think: what have you got that needs protection?
Having had anti social neighbours, there is no way I would knowingly purchase a property with them already in situ. Your home should be a place where you can relax and feel comfortable and secure......this may be a tad optimistic with the family from hell across the road.0 -
I'm with everyone else: don't do it. No house is nice enough to compensate for the stress and misery that you and your kids will have to put up with every single day. Having neighbours from hell is a horribly stressful experience, especially when you have small kids, and these particular neighbours sound as though they're in a league of their own. Please don't put yourself through it.0

Three words to remember.....
Location, location, location.
Simple. These 4 will give trouble for years0 -
Are you really even considering this given the information you know??
You could knock the price down, and use the money saved for security systems, video recording equipment, razor wire and police escorts to and from your front door and the rest on therapy for yourself ??0
