I reserved a TV online for next day collection from Currys via their website only to be called at the end of the day to be told they had made a mistake and actually sold them all.
I was told that if I came in to the store anyway they would try to order me one and if they couldn't they'd do me a deal on something else. Long story short it was a lie to get me in the store, they told me the most they were allowed to discount by head office was 1%.

Less than a week later they had more in stock but at a far, far higher price yet they would not honour the item reservation even though they admitted it was their mistake. I complained to their main call centre and they informed me unintentionally that the whole thing about only being allowed to give 1% discount was a lie, it's totally at store discretion.
They also lied to me over the phone about something they said was in the terms and conditions to try and get rid of me but unluckily for them I happened to have a copy in front of me but they just put me on hold for a bit and basically ignored the fact they'd lied when they came back.

Don't know about you but I think if it's the store that made the mistake and they get them back in stock less than a week later they should honour the reservation and definitely not lie to you.

As far as I know because they were yet to take any money even though it's awful customer practice they don't have to supply the item but please correct me if I'm wrong.
  • After the whole debacle with Curry's (see above) Pixmania which I hear are all the same company are just as bad.

Basically if something says it is in stock online and they take your money do they have to supply you with the item or something of equal or better specification and quality?
    1. Saw a TV on Pixmania, said 'in stock' so ordered it and they took my money.
    2. Got an email saying sorry it's actually out of stock.
    3. Picked a different TV which said 'in stock' (took money), got the same email.
    4. Emailed asking if they would ever deliver the items which still say they are 'in stock'.
    5. Emailed me a date they were expecting deliveries. I thought Saturday was a strange day for deliveries and low and behold it turned out to be totally made up, later email said no such deliveries expected.
    6. Complained, they said sorry and they will substitute an item of equal or less price or I can cancel. Big of them huh. All other items for same price are nowhere near as good.
    7. They have my money for two items, do they have to supply me with something as good or better if as good not available any longer?
I'm really sick of getting crappy service from major companies that you would think know better but I guess maybe they are so big now they just don't care.

Thanks to everybody who's used up their time reading / replying to my complaining drivel!
