Selling stinky clothes on ebay?

as one of the bad folk out there who smokes
i always state not a smoke/pet free house
but all items are cleaned i dont iron but i also state that0 -
I haven't sold in a while but I wash and iron everything, unless it was brand new.
I once sold a pair of designer jeans, and when I was ironing them before sending them off I found a hole in the front pocket. I e-mailed the buyer and told him that if he wanted to back out that would be fine with me, or I could sew the lining and give him £5 off. He bought them and gave me great feedback saying I was a 'top seller and honest too'.

It is a risk you have to take when purchasing other peoples worn clothes.I agree that all items should be laundered to an acceptable standard before posting (I'd never post dirty clothes!) But whatever washing powder someone uses, or if the garment smells like smoke, or even has bits of hair stuck on it is something we all need to accept. We should not have to change how we live just to sell on ebay!!
I bought my son a bundle of clothes off ebay and the seller obviously had a dog because i ended up with a few free pet hairs!, she did not mention pets, and i didn't ask if she had any. I left her a positive because the clothes were in good condition and as described, and were good as new after i'd washed them. (always re-wash anything off ebay anyway)
However i bought some trousers for my little girl for another seller which were described as being in excellent condition. But one pair had a button missing and damage/plucks to the fabric and the other had wear to the bottoms of the legs and were freyed!! The only thing that was accurate to what she said in the listing is that they'd been washed in Fairy! I gave her a neutral because the trousers were only suitable as playwear, not excellent cond. Personally, I'd never sell clothes in that condition! Only perfect stuff goes on ebay when i can be bothered! Everything else is either Freecycled or recycled!!!darren1217 wrote: »as one of the bad folk out there who smokes

I have spoke to DHL who said nothing we can do it's a owner driver.
So she picks it up at 6am and i get it at 11:30, 5 1/2 hrs in a smoke filled van.
I have some paper that came from PCWORLD about November it still smells.
I think smoking in a works van is against the anti smoking laws (it certainly is in Scotland) as even taxi drivers when not on duty have been prosecuted for smoking in their own cars.
Possibly worth complaining to environmental health as I think its them who police the anti smoking laws.0 -

I sell underwear, used, as stated but clean - I always state that - but I have been asked if I can sell it unwashed!
I would never send out any clothing item unwashed but I don't iron and I do state if the article is creased.0 -
I bought a top a few weeks ago, I took it out of the packaging and it smelt of smoke, but thought that was the only problem and left positive feedback. (IMO it doesn't matter how recently it was cleaned, if there's people who smoke in the house, to a non smoker, it could well smell of smoke). It wasn't til I looked at it again later, I realised that the hem had come away in 2 places, about 3 inches each side! Wasn't a happy bunny, but nothing I could do cause I'd already left good feedback so...If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0

As has been previously stated, it is against Ebay's policy to send out unwashed clothes. One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other0

of course everyone would like to receive clean clothes, but surely anything you buy second hand you will wash at least once before wearing anyway (even if it looks spotless) so whats the big deal?Wiggly:heartpulsFB0

I got a maternity swimsuit that was so bobbled on the bottom, I think the woman I bought it from must have had a long summer holiday and sat on her a*se at the edge of a pebbled swimming pool all day, I got maternity pyjamas and one strap is hanging by a thread so I need to stitch it up (this seller has emailed me and asked me to leave feedback, not done it yet!), and I got some fisher price soft blocks which had strange marks like mould, and when you took the blocks out of a fabric cover there was a dead wasp inside!
I have bought a lot on ebay over the years but not really any clothes until recently and on the whole haven't had too many bad experiences. I think I may stop buying clothes because others idea of very good condition does not seem to be my idea!
I am all for saving money, and some of my maternity clothes were from ebay, but couldn't buy second hand pj's, not everyone wears undies in bed, and def not a swimsuit. Is it just me?0
