Dss Snooping?

I am in receipt of incapacity benefit and child tax credit and no other benefits. I am on incapacity for heart problems and I am awaiting surgery. For the last couple of days there has been a car parked just by my house with a man in it and he hasn't left the car - just sits in it reading or making calls on his mobile phone. I saw him looking at me when I went to take my daughter to school this morning and as I was driving off he made a call on his mobile phone, and he did the same when I came home. It is really disconcerting me because I know that I am not claiming anything under false pretences but how can I find out what he is doing? Do you think he is a DSS snooper? Sorry to be paranoid but it is really odd. I took down the number on a piece of paper and let him see me doing it but he still hasn't moved. I haven't got the bottle to go up to him and ask him what he is doing. He's quite elderly.

It could be something and nothing.
What has your IB been awarded for?0 -
Phone the police if you think they're acting suspiciously. I did this years ago and it turned out to be HM Customs watching a neighbour.
Chances of it being benefit investigators is a bit slim but if you are concerned phone. I would. They could be up to anything. Get some photos too.0 -

a heart condition which requires surgery - paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and flutter - I have been an in patient in hospital 10 times in the last year so I don't think they could even try and say that I'm fit for work.Jane

I wouldn't worry too much then. Like Jemma says. If you are worried, phone the police.
Most IB investigations are to do with people on hard to prove illness. For example if you are claiming a bad back yet regularly carry 20 asda bags through your door at a time full of shopping then they have cause for concern.
If you are doing nothing wrong then don't worry about that. I would be inclined to do as Jemma says and take photo's though in case anything happens in your area like burglary etc.0 -
If you are concerned and you dont feel that yo can approach him by all means ring the police. If you have the car number they can check this straight away. Just do it now to put your mind at rest.
think of it this way, If he is a DSS person and he is watching you he is just doing his job. If you are not doing anything wrong it is unlikely he is watching you so there is nothing to worry about.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Personally, I'd be rather concerned about a man sitting outside my home and apprently watching my movements!
I'd have called the police by now. Now way would I allow it to carry on for a few days! Jeez, I'd be terrified it were my children he was interested in!!
A fraud incestigation woudl not cross my mind, and if it did, I'd likely dismiss it thinking they'd be a little more discreet!
Aren't you afraid?0 -

But he's not doing it very well! If he's so obvious to you, it's unlikely that he's watching you. If you were claiming when you shouldn't, you'd have made sure you looked really ill in front of him. I would phone the police, just to be on the safe side.0 -
If you don't want to approach the police let Neighbourhood Watch know...sounds a bit 'iffy'. I wouldn't like it either.0

He's gone now, but I told the neighbourhood watch co-ordinator, but she had already clocked him and she said she would make enquiries. Next door are having loads of work done and the NW woman said he may be looking at the workmen going in and out.....Jane
