After analysing our calls and taking advice from a forum, we have now decided to stay with BT with the Anytime call plan unles your foreign call centre annoys me again.. We just have to find a way around the 0844 and 0871 numbers now.BT_company_representative wrote: »Hi Surfer! However by the same token, it would be preferable if you brought your call centre back to our shores as that was one of the main reasons why we were going to dump BT!0 -
BT Company representative, please see my thread regarding BT voice text calls which will be enough to make me move to another provider even if they charge more!0

"Thank you for choosing our friends and family mobile deal" ............... When you took the unlimited evening and weekend plan deal you agreed to a 12 month renewable contract, which ends on 17th April 2009, we have simply added friends and family mobile to this contract term". It also mentions that as they have started to provide the service as agreed I cannot cancel this service without incurring termination charges.
The letter was dated 15th April and I got it today (18th) so the day after my renewal date
Also the line we now know "if you do not wish to renew your 12 month contract you must let us know before the renewal date"
So technically today I've started another rolling 12 month contract, with an additional service I didn't request.
I've telephoned BT today and spoke to 2 lovely members of staff Melissa and Colin who were very helpful and sorted out what I wanted and ordered caller display while I was there. Importantly there's NO record of me ordering friends and family mobile deal, in addition my rolling contract wasn't cancelled as I requested.
So make sure your letter confirms what you ordered!!
The exact same thing has happened to me.
The letter is very confusing, after reading it several times I still wasn't sure if the contract had been renewed or not. It says my contract ends of the 20th May 09, the letter is dated the 21st, and arrived yesterday.
Shall have to give them a call I guess.

Hi guys. i just got a letter through from BT today basically saying that they were sorry that they did not send their 'standard reminder' letter through re renewing me on the unlimited evening & wkend plan when it was due for renewal in April - they just renewed for me. the letter states i've 21 days to cancel if i want. if i do, i'll be charged the 'normal price' for the plan: £2.95 per month + £11.25.
is it worth sticking with it? i'm a very light phone user. any better deals around? i do have internet already - am using plusnet their £5.99 per month deal. thanks!0 -

If you make less then 59 Evening calls a month ( bearing in mind that 01/02/03 weekend calls are inclusive with the £11.25 rental) you could ditch the £2.95 plan and use www.18185.co.uk who only charge 5p per geographical call any time of day.0 -
I have just tried to leave my BT contract as they have put the line rental price up - change of contract terms. However apparently i am only signed into a 12m rolling contract for the 'free evening and weekend calls' and am not in a 12 contract for line rental. I can't break the contract as the price is only going up on the line rental.
which apparently isn't connected to the 12m contract on the free evening and weekend calls.
I asked to retain the free evening and weekend calls, and just terminate the line rental if they were not connected. This was not possible either.
So if i do want to leave early I will have to pay an early exit charge for a service I am apparently not currently paying for.
Is this right? Should I complain to ofcom (i'm thinking so)?0 -

You can phone ofcom for advise and depending on when they say at the end of the advise ask them to log a complaint or not.
This is something always worth doing if any Telecoms Provider refuses to terminate a contract for a reason that sounds odd.0 -
I would say someone gifted in the gob but lacking in understanding of contracts has has made that one up. As far as I can see, the line rental and the free evening and weekend calls are components of a single contract. My thinking lines up with yours about terminating the line rental. I think I would cancel in writing and wait for them to provide a written objectionHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
