Oh wow! Thanks so much everyone for your support, I really appreciate it.
I am feeling a bit better today - saw some friends and family over the weekend, think I will get some work next week, and have tried to get things in perspective.
I didn;t get any redundancy pay, but I got a months' notice, plus holiday pay I was owed, and with sme work I have done I am OK for the short term which gives me breathing space.
I have had depression in the past (on and off since I was six) so I have tablets in the cupboard if I need them...but I try not to take them if I can.
And I wouldn;t normally post stuff like this but I felt so alone and sad, and I know MSE is a big family of lovely people - and oyu all proved me right. :T
I can;t answer everyone personally, but I have thanked all of you and I am really appreciative of your kind words and thoughts - it makes such a difference to know people care about me (even though they don;t know me).

a big hug from me too. i'm prone to depression when stressed and my tutor at uni told me to eat bananas. i don't know if it works or not though. for lack of sleep i can recommend the horlicks sleep challenge packs of hot chocolate, i'm snoring in minutes
let us know how you get on. maybe you could write articles based on some of the discussion threads lol! you could even quote us, saves you having to find people in real life for quotes

The poster had a great idea - think of the amount of people you can reach on here and the variety of life experiences.
If nothing else it could give you a new slant on ideas etc.
Once the weather gets brighter you may feel your mood lifting and this is not medical advice but have you tried St. John's Wort?
Holland and Barrat do it in a small bottle and you add a few drops to water every day.
Big hug even if you do not need it at the moment. You can save it for later.:grouphug:"This site is addictive!"

Bananas contain tryptophan which helps boost the levels of serotonin in the brain (in the same way some anti-depressants do) and is also a natural sleeping aid. Chocolate does the same thing, which is why people always feel better after they've eaten it, but at least bananas are healthier!
I very rarely read this board but elona mentioned on OS that you might want some support so I've come over to give you a huge ((((((hug))))) :kisses3:
You've had some great advice here already so I'll just echo what others' have said about taking it easy and just doing what you can comfortably manage for the moment. When you try to look at the big picture it all looks too scary and daunting, and I know that feeling of being overwhelmed only too well, so try to break things down into smaller chunks if you can and make LISTS!!!
If you can make a list of things you need to do, people to contact etc then go through them and prioritise the most important stuff that NEEDS to be done first, and the rest can go on a backburner until you have the time or energy to tackle them. I'm going to be a total hypocrite here as I can't even manage to follow my own advice at mo
... but when I can this works for me, and I find that making lists before going to bed at night helps me sort out the jumble in my head and gives me a plan to follow the next day so I can sleep easier without tossing and turning worrying about it all night
I hope you start to feel better soon hun and just look on this as a blip and not that you're going to sink into the depths of depression again, as worrying about that can make it happen too. You DO have the strength to pull yourself through this, but a bit at a time, and remember to allow yourself all the pamper time in the world in the meantime, and use your family/friends and everyone here for support
Good luck hun ((((hugs)))"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
