Just passing through but would like to say Hi

Youv'e got some great advice there. Chill this afternoon, enjoy your weekend and then Monday morning you put that plan in place feeling a little more rejuvinated. I think that sounds balanced and focussed. :)

Hope your feeling more like yourself soon. :grouphug:

I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your job. but there is a saying that everything happens for a reason, you might not see the reason now, but maybe in the future it will become clearer. This might be a turning point in your life with new opportuinies coming along. It sounds likeyour mum, nan and yourself all need support, so you could try and support each other, I know this might be difficult at this time, but you could all draw strenght from each other. And things will get better and be OK. Here is a big H U G for you Take care.

I just feel I am beginning to get depressed again and I can't sleep properly - got about two hours last night. I just feel so upset that I won;t be able to live and I don;t know what else I could do and it all seems so big and scary and hopeless.

    Hello skintchick

Can I ask that if you are feeling lonely, isolated and possibly suidal.........that you contact The Samaritans. They will be there whenever you call. They will listen and support you.

Your best mate will return from holiday so be sure to let them know exactly how you're feeling. Don't attempt to make them feel better by fibbing and saying "I'm fine".........when asked.

Have you seen your gp? If you haven't, make an appointment. He/she will make sure that you get the best medical help to get you through this situation.

    You are not alone.

I hope that you are soon feeling better and get lots of support.

    Kind Regards

Big fat hug from big fat me (as I say to DDs)

Please just be kind to yourself - you have come a long way and should be proud of yourself.

Think of Sarahsaver - she felt like you about a year ago and she now has started her own business and has just got engaged - none of this was likely at that time. It just goes to show things will happen when you least expect them.

If you can pschye yourself into thinking redundancy can be a blessing in disguise maybe that would help in a small way.

The very best of luck for the future..

HUGS from me. Deal with one thing at a time.
    Let me illustrate this...
I have had to deal with being unemployable due to having a stroke, being a single parent of three, a child with physical and mental health problems, domestic violence and so on...BUT I did not try to crack them all at once. At least this country has a safety net which catches MOST people. If you lived near to here you could come round for a real hug and some tea and sympathy, but a virtual one will have to do. You climb a mountain in steps, not all at once. Be strong;)

Big manly hug from me, i'm not gay or owt!!! ha ha. (not that there's anything wrong with gay people of course - jesus, this hole is getting deep!!!)

Anyway, wanted to ask the OP what it is that she does freelance, maybe people on her could keep an ear to the ground for her. Also let us know where you are based.

Good luck and keep your chin up!!!

    Debt-free and Proud!
I'm a feature writer, for newspapers and magazines. Used to work on a couple of mags, left because of the commute and how ill it was making me, to go and work at an agency, then they had to downsize last month for various reasons.

    Sorry, I'm rambling.

Basically I write for people like Chat, Grazia, Full House, The Mirror, etc. But I have to find all my own ideas and pitch them, so it is hard work and not guaranteed you'll be successful even if you have people willing to tell you their stories.
I'm based in Oxfordshire, but cover a wider area of the south.

Thanks everyone. I've had a bath and done some housework and feel a bit more positive now.

glad you're feeling a bit better!
everyone on here is the most amazing support network for eachother - use it as much as you want/can while your mum's busy!! :grouphug:
i don't know anything about freelance writing, but i figure if you've cut your debt down to a third of what it was, you've got an impressive level of self motivation at your disposal!
