Don't forget that your existing Sky receiver will revert to a Sky Freesat box once the card is cancelled, albeit without the HD channels.
So unless you're getting Freesat for the HD channels, then don't waste your money.
If you want to watch Channel 5, and some others, I think you'll need to get a Freesat from Sky card, which costs about £250 -

A cancelled subscription card works as a FreesatFromSky Card, so no need to buy another one. (Though cards are meant to be changing soon, so you might soon have to pay £20 for one). It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Don't you have to get up on the roof and change the LNB on the actual dish, to fit a quad LNB?0

They're still encrypted channels and are part of the agreement they signed with Sky to allow them to appear on the Guide, they are what is termed Free to View channels which is different to BBC etc. which are called Free to Air channels.0 -
You're quite right, but I think the card is around £20 now, still cheaper than buying a new Freesat box though.
Though if you currently subscribe to Sky and cancel, the viewing card reverts to a FreeSatFromSky card, so no need to pay £20.
Whilst 200 or so channels require no viewing card, around 5 do.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I was speaking to the Fresat department the other day for a customer of mine and they confirmed that the customer would need to pay £19.570 -

They've been saying that for years.
(I'm still using my ex-subs card from 4+ years back as a FTV card, as are most others not conned into buying the card). It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Best bet then is to cancel and see what happens before jumping in with the £20.0
