End of the line for Vauxhall if the government refuse to bail them out.

It seems even the CEO of Fiat thinks major blood is yet to be spilled:
Prophet of doom at the motor showMarchionne, who has already "saved" Fiat, is predicting that only a handful of global players will emerge from the crisis that Patrick Pelata, Renault's chief operating officer, says is more akin to the Great Depression than any in the last 35 years. Our Italian friend says only two of these six survivor groups will be European: one a volume producer, presumably Volkswagen/Porsche, the other a premium producer, presumably built around BMW, Mercedes and the rest.
Looks grim.
Do you still want to pour money into the black hole Rochdale?0 -

Squashed is what your remains would be if you were unfortunate enough to crash one.0 -

I have had my Vauxhall for over 3 years now and its been superb and with 85k on the clock still runs as well as when it had 10k on it. Its more reliable than any Ford or Renault I have had.
To base your argument on your opinion of what is a good car is childish.
My Vectra spontaneously combusted while I was driving it. Each to their own."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -
It's looking grim for Vauxhall, their workers and the 500 dealers.

From that article....."There are reports the carmaker, which employs more than 4,000 people in the UK, has asked for around £1.5bn."
That works out at £375,000 per job saved.
But that depends on whether they're talking American billion or UK billion."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -
Looks like full nationalisation of vauxhall will be needed for them to survive.
Following todays statement by GMs auditors stating "sbstantial doubt" about its survival, its looking very possible GM will fall.
GM say they may well be forced into bankruptcy protection and if so they would need an additional whopping 100 billion dollars to successfully emerge from it.
I cant see the american government throwing 100 billion at any one company.
Apparently march 31st is crunch day with a deal needed with their creditors and main union by then.0
