Well i guess its me next :o. Dont know how im feeling at the min. Ashamed, embarrassed, come to mind. I was well on top of my credit cards other bills etc untill the so called credit crunch. I was working in the building trade till i lost my job in Nov 2008. Its been down hill from then, having to claim JSA and having £60.50 pw to live on. My arm has been twisted. To the point i cant take no more from the hastle of continuous phone calls and not enough money to cover my priority debts. Guess i will not be the first or last this year to declare bankruptsy. :o

Well its far too late to be the first and highly unlikely you'll be the last. When is your BR date?

5 days and counting. Starting to feel a little apprehensive to be honest. I know it's the right thing for me, my life and my career. I can't help worrying about so many things e.g. the OR, my car, my family(who've been nothing but supportive), my future(relationships/jobs/children/home - if I ever get one), IPA/IPO/BRO:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. Reading this forum has helped though, so off to bed to catch some zzzzzzzzz.

Well today was the day for me. All a bit of an anti climax really. Arrived at court at 8.55 and was waiting for the doors to open.

9.00 doors open and i told the securiy guard chap what i was there for. Asked to wait untill called, i was going through all the checklist again in my head paperwork fees etc.

9.15 i was called forward by a kind lady who introduced herself and said she was going to be dealing with my bankruptcy. She went through all the paperwork with me and i swore on the bible, saying all was true in the paperwork. The lady then went off to photocopy the paperwork then came back. She then told me that was basicly that, and she was going to find a judge. Off she went.
A while later she reappeared and said that was it all done and i had to pay the relevant fees. In my case £360 as i got the court fee waived with me claiming job seekers allowance.

10.00 all was done and dusted whilst another person sat nervously was called forward. Im not sure how i felt really, but i knew that there was nothing at all to feel scare/ nervous about afterall.

On arriving home i thought i would turn on the phone after weeks of avoiding it. I knew i now could put an end to anyone phoning for a payment. What happens? NOTHING. I wait and wait and wait.
Up untill an hour ago the phone rang from barclaycard/ mercers who i owed the most too. Not fearing the call anymore i answered and told them my bankrupcy number. All was swift and was told they would pass the info to their bankrupcy dept. I eagerly await the next call to tell them the same.

Anyone thinking of or going through bankrupcy has nothing to fear, It is all over and done with very quickly. Best of all you can answer the door without peeping through the curtains. Answer the phone knowing thats probably the last time your going to hear off that creditor you owed money too.

I would just like to thank the people on this forum sharing their stories, and making it easier to come to a decision what was best for me. Thankyou and good luck to all other members who are going to go bankrupt this year.
