Brits being discriminated against regards car insurance costs

sorry to start a new thread, but it seemed that everybody was answering my original point rather than addressing something i only realised later
My main point now is that Europeans coming into Britain are not given points on their euro license if they're caught speeding in the UK. they therefore don't pay an increase on their insurance if they're caught speeding.
Surely if us Brits have to pay more when we get 3 points then shouldn't the euro visitors or immigrants?

This is not a xenophobic thread, i just feel we should all be treated equally. I'd be interested in any contructive comments if anyone thinks i got any of this wrong

I was thinking that too.
Jon have you been reading the Daily Mail?0 -
So if i'm speeding in France would I get points on my UK license?Top Tip is £450 away from clearing the overdraft and being debt free0

are you all saying this is a fair situation then? we're npt talking about a few quid, it can add hundreds of pounds to peoples insurance
I'm a liberal person and welcome all visitors to the UK, it's got nothing to do with any right-wing agenda as i'm not that way inclined
I would expect there to be a system to add these points to the license, it doesn't sound that hard to me.0 -

What would your opinion be if you moved to Spain and kept your UK licence, would you object to possibly having cheaper insurance there as they could not apply points to your licence etc0

Anyone filling in a a proposal for motor insurance is asked if they have had any convictions in the last x years.
Whether or not points were awarded the conviction would need to be declared so affecting the premium charged.

i would not object, but i would acknowledge that it was unfair. and if the authorities changed the system then i'd have no complaints.
do you think it's fair then?0 -
Yes you have got it wrong.

thanks that is interesting. although wouldn't it be impossible for the insurance company to check if anyone was lying about it?0 -
I do agree that if someone lives in the UK they should have to declare convictions on their insurance regardless of where the license was issued.
But surely then the DVLA would have to endorse a license which was not issued by them, which they probably can't do - and they police won't chase this up as they are still collecting the fines.Top Tip is £450 away from clearing the overdraft and being debt free0
