How much would a decent quality HDMI switching unit cost? I genuinely have no idea. We were going to ugrade our Sky+ to HD, anyway. We currently have 2 Sky+s, one in the bedroom that gets very little use (certainly not worth paying the extra £10/mth for, anyway) so our plan is to get a freeview recorder for the bedroom and spend the £10 saved on the HD sub.Call me Carmine....

It depends on how much you want to spend, you can buy a manual switched one for £18 delivered here:

Or if you want to go that bit further, you can have a remote controlled one with a few more bells and whistles for £53 here:

both will do the job

Just checked and they've still got stock in my local Richer Sounds - I'm very tempted!
They say they've had a couple returned because people didn't understand the tuner situation - and even hinted they might discount a bit!0 -
How do you check local stock?0

the lack of a tuner doesnt put me off, the lack of a scart or component connection does however - would mean i cant use my dvd player or media HD with it0

True - it sacrifices connectivity for "thinness", which really isn't that big a deal to me (and probably most people).
Not having a tuner or decent speakers makes it more a computer monitor than a telly IMO - great screen for somebody with a media centre PC rather than a person with a two or three standalone players and receivers.
Pity.

Id totally forgotten about this
Mind like a sieve. No expert here at all but wouldn't an AV amp solve the problem of connectivity? Aplogies if this is absolute bunkum... Call me Carmine....

No, you're right.
You'd have as much connectivity as you'd ever need if you bought this screen and the Onkyo av receiver they are selling for £195, and you'd still have enough change from a monkey to get a pie and a pint!
