Savers Rights: Name & Shame Accounts which hide interest rates

Excellent idea, I have signed.
Sainsbury's Bank - PRAISE - current interest rate on Saver accounts clearly displayed on Internet banking screen.
Halifax - MIXED - fine for Web Saver accounts but no info whatsoever for Regular Saver accounts. When I queried this with my local branch, they gave me a bunch of lame excuses - and confirmed my suspicion that the only way to check you are getting the fixed rate quoted at the time the RS account was opened is to do a rough calculation when annual interest is paid. Words fail me ...0 -
SO glad to see Martin campaigning for this :j - this has been a long standing irritation for me, and I have emailed Alliance and Leicester several times about it and never had a reply or comment from them.
Regarding Tesco, like gingergirl21, I opened an account on 7th January, but it was WEEKS before the paperwork came through and I could acutally deposit any money - now on the statement it says account was opened when the money went in, so presumably isn't getting the bonus (HOW exactly do I find out??) That doesn't seem fair!0 -
I have banked with the Yorkshire Building Society for over 10 years. It's a joint instant access savings account and I have to say that from day one their statements have always shown what rate of interest you are receiving against every single transaction on the statement!! Fantastic!! They have always been the friendliest and most helpful people I have banked with over the years.
I also bank with HBOS....I think the less I say about them the better.....0 -
Excellent. Something I have been complaining about for ages. My best accounts are with the Halifax and Birmingham Midshires. They show the current interest rates on the account summary page. I have/have had loads more accounts and they vary considerably from clicking through a few pages to some I've had to phone because I can't find my rate, even though they say it's there somewhere! If Halifax and BM can do it why can't they all? (I think we know the answer to that one don't we?)0

Alliance & Leicester -- same as Egg concealed interest rates buried under different account types and who the hell remembers start dates?

One thing that infuriates me is when banks write to you with a notice saying "With effect from - - - the interest rate on your account will CHANGE. They never say "WILL BE REDUCED. Why can't they be honest about this and call a spade a shovel?0

Great idea and I have signed up.
Worse offender for me is Abbey.0 -
I applied for a Tesco Internet Saver account last December. I have put £50k in, without realising that I couldn't operate the account - no card reader - and I am not sure whether I actually did get the 12 months bonus. I have had very little paperwork and received a letter yesterday thanking me for opening my account and telling me that is was now fully processed, even though I still can't use it!!! Their system seems to be a complete shambles and I wish that I'd never bothered let alone trusted them with my savings!0

Shame Natwest. Two months ago I phoned to ask what interest rate I was receiving on my "e" savings a/c. I was advised by "customer support" that the information was available on their website, and I need to look there.
I replied that I had already tried but I didn't know if I was receiving the bonus, to which "customer service" replied that she was not a financial adviser and put the phone down.
I complained at this treatment to so called "Customer complaints" who pledged to look into it, needless to say I have not heard another word.0
