Savers Rights: Name & Shame Accounts which hide interest rates

Shame, Shame, Shame.... Abbey. A tangled, confused web of not knowing what product you are on, when your bonus period expires and the most unhelpful telephone service ever.
Praise. Smile. Emails every time there is a rate change and if not a quick secure message always gets you an answer....0 -
Well done to Birmingham Midshires whose online account says,"the interest rate on this account is......"
I do not know of any others that do this0 -
In the past I have written to several banks and building societies suggesting this but always received a bland reply. I also wrote to the Code of Banking Practice who said they would consider it further (but I wonder of they did?).
However, a bouquet to SAINSBURY'S INTERNET BANK – they always show the current rate0 -
I agree with the comments about the Coventry, particularly since they have a number of 50+ and 60+ accounts, aimed at the very people who find the lack of clarity confusing.
Banks deliberately give similar names to different accounts, so 'internet saver', 'web saver', 'online saver', 'e-saver', then add a (2), (issue 3) etc just for bad measure. Finding the correct one in the closed accounts list is a struggle.
Having said that, praise to cahoot (only online) which sends out emails, and quote the account number - "your savings account ending 1234" - saying when the interest rates change, though always retrospectively.0 -
It seems to be largely HBOS banks that are doing this well ... the ones whose names have come up several times are Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Birmingham Midshires (part of the HBOS group) and Sainsbury's Bank (where HBOS own 50% and run all the banking stuff).0

BARCLAYS even conceal the area where you can check current rates!!!!0

But you just need to login and it gives you the rate against your account
Can you be any more specific D1zzy? Which accounts with which bank/banks are you talking about? You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
Thumbs up to Manchester BS, rates clearly displayed and also get a letter when the interest rate changes."When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".
Machiavellii0 -

It gives up to date (yesterday) transactions and clearly states the rates in a summary box in the online statements as well as the paper one you get through the post.), I was referring to the "recent transactions" screen, not the on-line statement but I guess as this thread is about info. on statements I should have kept schtumm..;)
