? how much homework do you think it is appropriate for a Yr2 child to received a week (age 6/7)? Do you think there should be any reprecussions for not doing the homework?
Hiya Dusty
Appropriate homework i think is reading every day and perhaps new spellings weekly. I alos think that handwriting should be done every day but all of the above should be done through play so they don't even realise they are doing the homework.
with regards to repercussions thats a hard one for example, if it was spellings for a test and they didn't practice the child could be upset if they were asked to spell a word and they could not do it, i think that would be repercussion enough.
Why has something happened with your lo

pigpen, got to say some of that I agree with. The funeral I was at last week was a suicide, on his wifes birthday, they didn't have children but the sheer devastation he's left is awful. If only visiting the future like was done in the Christmas Carol could be done, so they could see what it would cause.
Valli that sounds a complete nightmare, hope they sort it soon
Pigpen I forgot to say have a lovely time at Crufts
greenbee what a lovely thing for him to do, not many situations where people do that sort of feedback. I am sure you will find a wonderful job that you deserve soon x
LadyL I can't add much to what's been said already, you know we're all thinking of you and here if you need us x
Dusty - firstly homework I think spellings and reading are sufficient at 6/7 years old. That is all DS2 got at his last school. His school before that they had 3 sheets a week, reading and spellings which was excessive! As for what should happen if it's not done, very difficult but think I agree with Quillion, I prefer rewards for doing it instead of punishment for not doing it Microwave, might be worth trying Freecycle for a second hand one. That said I think they are under £30 in Argos. There are the different controls, dials and touch buttons. 700W would be fine, instructions usually go from 700/850W, mines much higher and cooks too fast/burns things. With regards to what Valli said about plates, I agree with this but a 'plate handle' might also be a good idea as the plate can get hot and if she struggles with handling objects it might be worth considering. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cool-Hand-Plate-Grip-PR60067-Mobility-Disability-Aid_W0QQitemZ160309790763QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Health_Beauty_Mobility_Disability_Medical_ET?hash=item160309790763&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 probably get them cheaper somewhere....As for meals on wheels I think the most valuable part is someone else going round making sure all is ok.
Quillion isn't it lovely when you get such positive comments, just shows how well you are doing, well done!
funfairprincess I walk sometimes with a lady who has a beardie, she's also a muck monster!
Plans back on for hols, just not where I wanted to go but somewhere we've been before (Filey) and boys loved. A very commercial site but that's ideal when I'll be there alone with them, plenty to do inc pool, play areas etc and a shop as I'll be carless for the days DPs at home (Thursday-Monday) I am sure there was a bus into town from there too so can use that if necessary.
I've just been mean and told DS1 he needs to start putting his Lego away for the night (yes lego city again he's playing with) .....I'm at a tutorial tomorrow and I am wondering if DPs remembered haha. That's 10-3.30pm then meeting friends for tea at 5pm (I like crufts because it means she comes home to look after the farmboys are looking forward to seeing her) .....I am so looking forward to Sunday as a day off, I know I'll need to use it to catch up on things but ahhhhhh no dashing about.
I am struggling this week, seriously struggling. Not managed all of any of the listsno stars for me, just been so busy then studying when I can in between. Managing to keep the kids in uniforms, keep dishes washed, cook meals and not a lot else. I've got to the stage part of me doesn't know where to start.....which isn't good. DP had a little rant earlier about housework, well actually it was more focussed at the boys (and their rooms) but in front of me. Think he's noticed the tip they are in because I haven't done them this week apart from bedding. Part of it's probably him protesting that I haven't been in, without saying it directly....learned from last mistake maybe? Anyway, I am hoping what he's said lasts, will discuss it further with him on Sunday.
I think it'll be a case of empty the DW then early night with the books for me tonight, I feel exhausted. Need to get the dog out for a tiddle etc now, hopefully at least in bed by 11pm even if not asleep. Goodnight all xOne day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Dusty honey - sorry I lost my internet connection before I could answer you but i see the others have helped.
Most ready meals give instructions for 3 sizes of microwave - probably something around 600-700 would be fine for her.
The quality of meals on wheels varies from area to area and like Valli said a lt of people are now getting Wiltshire farm Foods for their freezer and they seem pretty good but def not as good as M&S. the good thing is they are postioned ready to do and there is a wide variety of stuff available - try their website here - the main complaint of meals on wheels is they are never usually hot enough - it depends on how far the client is away from the distribution kitchen and where on the route the client is.
If Nan hasnt much strength then digital is def best for her although some can be a little complicated so beware.

Yup - my type of dog has a brilliant nose, is friendly and sociable and expert at sniffing out anything it's trained to sniff - like explosives, drugs etc. Springer Spaniels are very common at airports, military bases etc. doing the routine checks...
This link shows their worth...

Nope... can't work it out. Anyway, my salary won't be much different  I've got a sharesave ending soon which will actually have more of an impact... so have to decide whether to put all of that into another sharesave, or do something else with it, or a combination.
And I've also realised that because I get paid mid-month, 2 weeks in advance, 2 in arrears that I'll get my bonus this month, but the new salary next month. I'll get the hang of it eventually!
I haven't used up any of this year's cash ISA allowance (I don't think... I'll have to check), so once I've paid for the utility room, bed and kitchen table, I think I'll put the rest away there as I know I need to save for a car - this one is still doing OK, but won't last for ever, and I completely fail to save my car allowance each month (well I have done, but I always end up spending it on other stuff... like a new kitchen!). I've been particularly bad at saving this yearbut I do have money going into sharesave, company pension, personal pension, mortgage and equity ISA before I get to touch it, so I guess I'm probably saving quite a bit medium to long term (I've got a couple of cash ISAs from previous years that have survived my spending spree
), but have pretty much emptied my instant access savings account in the last few months
Think I'll have an early night... I've got lots to do tomorrow in preparation for my dad's visit (although he's bringing pigeon casserole and fish pie with him, so that'll do three evening meals... I only have one evening and breakfast/lunch/veggies to shop for).0 -
froddy healing thoughts and prayers for the little girl.
greenbee-sorry you never got an interview but that sounds promising and interesting - good luck with the response.
