Why is this a good deal? I'm sorry if I'm being thick but why would you need it for a weekend away? Surely you just use your own car? I'm sure I'll understand soon

Check out the internet for sites that will for a small fee cover the collision damage the hirer has to pay, It's well worth buying as it covers everything including tyres.0

Be very careful re the insurance. 3 years ago we hired a car from Enterprise and had an accident where a parking bollard came up and badly damaged the engine. We were not too worried as we paid an extra £28.00 to cover the excess. We had paid £100 deposit which they tried to keep and immediatly we reported the accident they debited the £400 excess from my card. They then proceeded to chase us for £7000 for 9 months as they said it was our fault and the underside and roof of a car are not covered by insurance. It was about to go to court when they appointed a new solicitor and he wrote to us saying the case was being withdrawn. So beware re insurance on hire cars and never use Enterprise!!!0 -

will insure you for the year from any car hire excess for £49 plus 20% back via quidco. They also do a daily option at £4.50 a day but as we have already got a car booked for a week this year will go for the yearly package.
You would still have to pay initally then claim it back. They are very good at refunding,by all accounts.
You can use Avis for this but you would pay through the nose.0 -
