I've listed my first thing on freecycle and I'm actually quite astounded by some of the emails I've got. Some are really rude, and some people only want to view my item....sorry but I haven't got time for that, either you come and take it with you or you don't get it at all. Is that unreasonable?

What's the etiquette for freecycle, is it first come first served or do most people leave it a few days before deciding who to give their item too?

I use Freecycle. I think it is great! I picked up a brand new piece of lino for my bathroom 2 days ago and laid it yesterday. It looks great and cost me only my petrol money, well, and the cost of the wee rose bush I took as a thanks.

I only learned to drive a year ago and going to places I don't know is allowing me to pick up things for free and also giving me knowledge of areas and roads.

   I am truly astonished.....how can people be rude??? IT'S FREE!!!! I am new to freecycle and have already received a slow cooker, a toaster and a foot stool and I couldn't be more grateful. I actually feel guilty that I'm getting it free and feel like giving people something as a token to say thanks...like a small box of chocolates or some home-made jam or something?
    Rude? .... amazed....really amazed

one email I got said "give me your address I will be round to pick it up later today" I emailed back saying I wouldn't be at home later today (never mind the fact that I hadn't agreed they could have the bike) and they replied saying "what are you wasting everyone's time posting it on freecycle for then" I've had 2 emails saying simply "whats your address" Yeah right like I'm going to randomly give my address out to all and sundry, they know the area I live in as it was mentioned on my listing, so that should be enough for them to ask if the bike is still available. And I've had 2 people ask if they can come and view the bike and then decide. I'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable here but I'm giving the bike away for free, I don't want to have to be waiting in for people to call round to have a look and then decide they don't want it. Take it, if it turns out to be no good then list it back on freecyle yourself.

I can't believe some of the 'wanted' ads on my local freecycle! Someone wanted a small car preferably a nova! The cheek of some people!

I've got to admit some of the wanted ads on my freecycle have seemed a bit cheeky too. I wondered if it was just that I'm a scrooge or something lol

On my local freecycle they advertise for garages, sheds, card and double glazing!
Mind you a woman came to pick up a treadle sewing machine off me in a car she got from freecycle the year before - it cost her £200 to get it through the mot.
Last week, we got a `gem` 2 boxes of comics dating back to 1974, batman, superman and others like that.
Someone said we could sell them to make a load of money but we`re keeping hold of them cos we love them.
