    Hi all!

What a massive thread. You'll all be asleep by the time you get to this post..! lol :D

I am a long time member of the Cardiff FreeCycle (2791 members. I remember when there was only 11! Crikey!!) and even got this modem-router I am using for the Internet now, from there!! Cool!

I have noticed in some posts here that people are getting angry with each other because people aren't receiving replies to/from freecycle requests/posts.
I think this is an issue with Yahoo.

I have had similar problems. In fact at one point I wasn't receiving any emails or posts at all!
I checked out my account and it transpired that all emails to my account had been bouncing back. Not sure why. So I added an alternate address and this worked ok for a while, then stopped again!!
I reverted back to the old email I had given and I have never had a problem since... except I keep getting two of every post instead of one!!

All I can say is, if you think you are being ignored this may be why, so offer an alternative email address to your Yahoo account or in your freecycle reply. Or if you get a nasty email advise the Moderator of this and explain it might be due to this issue (if you can think of no other).
That's what they are there for! :)

And, if like me you are 'not getting' replies, again, offer an alternate email address - or - there are tools in most emaling software (Outlook, for example) that allow you to input multiple reply email addresses that will each receive any response the other person makes (don't know if this is available with the like of Hotmail, though). So if the reply fails on one account, the other one should still get it.
This is really handy for items that you really want!

    Hope that helps!
Hope you haven't fallen asleep after this post, either! Hehee! ;)

    Sounds odd to me.
I am the group owner of Basildon Freecycle and I have emailed the group owner of Hackney Freecycle to alert him to the issue.
Hopefully this will be rsolved soon.

Please Help. I have been a member of frrecycle for yonks now but haven't used it. Today I posted two offers up yet they haven't appeared and others have one which was done roughly the same time as me and one 30ins later. Shall I re do the offer? Only think is I can't remember exactly what I wrote and I don't want it to appear twice. I posted it about an hr and half ago. How long do they normally take to appear? Sorry if i'm waffling I just think I did it wrong but not sure.

    Thank you

If you have not posted before you will probably be moderated (most groups have new members on mod until they have psoted a coupe of proper offers - this filters out the spam and also those posting wants for Ferarri's etc) so will have to wait until a moderator has had time to pass your post. Also Yahoo can be a bit pants at notifying the mod of new posts and then a bit pants at posting the accepted post. Give it a day and if any probs try re-posting.

    Cheers

    Hi MonkeyGirl,
It shouldn't take too long for your post to appear.. unless there's about 10,000 emails to send out from your FreeCycle group. It take about a second to send an email. If you're at the end of the list, it may be why you're not seeing it.

The other thing to do is check with your group's moderator. He'she will be able to let you know if your post has been received. If it has, you'll won't have to write it again. If it hasn't, you will have to write it again but you won't have annoyed anyone.

I think that's the safest course.
    Hope it helps!

Why are some freecyclers so rude??

I've had a few emails that just say "I want it. Give me your address". Yeah right!!!!

Okay, the majority are quite nice and any requests I make asking for stuff are always polite, explainatory and I might ask a question or two - without ever expecting I "have it".

I just feel that I am giving this stuff away - at least a please would be nice!

Thank you for replying yesterday. My messages showed up so I feel a bit more confident about it now.
