Hi guys,
It's lovely and sunny here allthough a tad cold. Plans today are to potter about around the house. I need to frame and hang the blown up photies of Eric, change the bedding, get that washed and out on the line, clean all the mirrors and glassware, a good polish throughout, do the ironing, scrub the loo and hoover throughout. I will run a nice hot bath later for the kids as they are complaining of aching legs LOL.
We have decided on our next trip out to go to somewhere called shell island and (yep you guessed it!) collect shells. This time it will be by train which they are all looking forward to as they have never been on one. So my lovely sis and I will alternate taking them out every weekend - her turn next weekend.
Lunch will be left over casserole and tea some burgers as I have pulled the baps out of the freezer to defrost.
Frugalswan, welcome back.
Gentle hugs to all in need today.
Have a great day all.

Morning all!!
I was up earlier then expected this morn, considering I went out last night! Also woken without a hangover!! Think that was due to to the huge chicken burger and chips I munched at 2am this morning! Think it soaked up all the alcohol, but bang goes the diet! :rotfl:
Lovely day here! Sun's out and blue skies! So going to clear up the garden today as kids have been buggin me for ages to go out and use the trampoline but after winter the garden is in a bit of a state so time to clear it up!
Also popping to the local National Animal welfare trust today as I am going to sign up as a volunteer. I have so much free time during the week I feel I want to give some of my time to a worthy cause, so going to sign up to help out. Just gonna have to stop myself from bringing all the animals home with me! Will take kids with so we can pop in park on way back to make the most of the nice weather.
Dinner today is Roast chicken with all the trimmings! Have a M&S oakham chicken from the £10 meal deal, so looking forward to that!
Hugs to all!

Hello - Sorry to hijack this thread but not sure who to ask! As a new user how do I start my own discussion thread? Or how do I find the right thread which might cover my queries eg home insurance and using comparison sites. Many thanks for your anticipated time and trouble.

Hi wildballoonlady - you're not hijacking anything so don't worry - this is the most unhijackable thread on MSE!
To post a new thread you will find a "new thread" button at the top left of the page on any of the boards. Your best bet is to go to the relevant board for your particular subject and then use the search function on that board to check out whether there is already a thread which answers your question.
Hope that helps!
The lamb curry did 6 2-person portions in the end and also a one-person portion too. They are all now crammed into our almost-full freezers! The meal plan for next week is done, and I am some way towards finishing my shopping list for next week too. Mr S have Rooster Potatoes on offer at 99p until Tuesday - I bought a bag this week but might pop in tomorrow evening for another bag, they will keep and that is an excellent price. They are lovely spuds too. WM has been on this morning (noisy but still living!) and the washing is now hung out - MrEH has put the airer outside so hopefully things will dry nice and quickly. I've been online and ordered my contact lenses - they have already tracked through Quidco :T - have also packed up some photos I needed to send to people and written a thank you note to the friend whose party we went to last night. The lamb shanks are in the SC with half a bottle of wine, some veggies, coriander seed, cumin seed, and dried apricots for a sort of tagine - should hopefully be delicious.

Afternoon all,
Nothing exciting happening here....DGS2 has set up a shop in a corner of the living room, raided my kitchen cupboards for stock and is busy selling it back to us all....mind you as most things only cost 1 cent, we will probably survive financially!
DD1 was up from Cork overnight for the match, she has just set off home for an early night to be ready for work tomorrow.
Dinner to-day is our luxury of the month.....lamb leg steaks for which I paid €12 odd yesterday....3 adults and a child will be fed, doubt that there will be any leftovers for tomorrow!
Just realised that there is no real butter in the house, not sure if its worth going to Tesco for some (12 mile round trip), was thinking of buying the SC they are advertising for €14.99...my leftover Grocery Challenge budget for February would just cover it, must decide soon as not far off starting dinner time...the mean streak is saying I don't need either SC or butter and I think winning the war at this stage!
Knitting is going to be my occupation for the evening....think that I may have to leave hood off jacket, as can't find any more wool....I know that there is some somewhere, but several searches through the wool stash hasn't worked.
Have a nice afternoon and evening all, hugs to all who need or want one and welcome to all newbies

Afternoon all, we're having a beautiful sunny day here in West Yorks - hopefully a sign of things to come.
Welcome Frugal swan! :hello:
I've had a lovely OS weekend managed to get a walk in over the tops yesterday and went to a meeting about getting involved in a local arts festival - met the leader who is lovely and got a free book to read as part of the project -excellent result! Came back and flopped with the Grauniad and a big pot of tea then made a yummy dinner of beetroot and red onion tart from the Riverford recipe and then HM mushroom ravioli!
It was the first time I made pasta myself and I told OH if it worked I was going to do a dance of joy the like of which had never been seen before - I don't think he believed it until I whooped and cheered my way around the living room! :j :j
I've got an extra batch to freeze for when my best friend, who is veggie, comes to stay.
I'm loving taking cooking from scratch to another level - made paneer on Friday and puff pastry yesterday. I will freely admit that the culinary parts of OS get greeted with much more enthusiasm by me than the cleaning!
Ah well off to do the ironing now:eek: , the hotpot for dinner is in, we're having popcorn for pudding whilst we watch little miss sunshine.
Hugs to everyone - hope you are enjoying the weekend!
