    Hi all,

i'm declaring at £225.56 for this month so I've done really well even if I do say so myself, lol!!

I have to confess I have bought a few lunches that I haven't included as I can claim the cost back through work (working away), but think I would still have come in under.

I'm going to say £250 again for next month (25th-24th) please and I think I'll include any lunches too and see how it goes.

Wow fletch3163 you have cut down so much! I wish I could do that. I know I have done much better this month than last, but now I'm down to my last few pennies (sig updated). I'm sure I will need a few more bits but I am hanging on for as long as possible. Had to buy eggs, cereal and bread flour today. On the bright side the GH is growing well Broad Beans, Tomatoes, Lettuce are now well underway and lots of other seedlings coming up. DH planted seed potatoes and Jerusalem Artichoke today. We have dug up part of the lawn and built two raised beds, so very excited about the prospect of FREE veggies soon.

    Ok,
Just made lunches for me and OH for only the 3rd day this week, and we've used an entire jar of chutney between us, and we're dangerously low on marge. I had a rough meal-plan in my head for the week, but seem to have factored the same few ingredients into several meals - we can only eat them once! Will be doing another shop after all, but probably for delivery Friday/weekend, and should be able to stock up a bit for April at the same time (I'm working on calendar months).

I am still spending much less than before though, and I'll know better next month!!:D

If making sandwiches with anything 'wet' like chutney or salad cream, I don't use marge or butter. This is a hang over from weight watcher days but saves money too
  • Just a quick update....target is £320 and I'm on £293.69. I'm not looking forward to next month as (a) it's Easter and we're away...(b) it's my birthday month and (c) the kids are off for a fortnight. Never good for my grocery budget! I reckon I'll spend the last £26.31 during the next few days, though DH has promised me we can get away with frugal spending if we just empty our freezer! Looking forward to being a bit more active on the posting front next month. And I'm about to go through my receipts to see just what's gone up/down over the last few months, so I can see where I'm spending more or less :)

Well done to those who've made it in on budget and to those who haven't done it this month, think where you would have been if you hadn't aimed high. A new month is a new opportunity...

Have just gone over my target for this onth and I still have umtil 31st to go.

I'm going to keep my spend at £130 for April MrsM as OH has just started a new contract. We were paid for 3/4 month n 13th march but won't get paid again until 25th April so will have to get organised. Luckily most of the big bills (CC and Morgage) are due at the end so we will have been paid by then. I also have a few quid stashed for this eventuality - I would never have been this prepared without MSE and this challenge.

Off to bed now before I eat more food - I will lose weight!!!

Please can you add me for the APRIL £250.00 As i have just been watching the thread and am already so shocked at how much ihave spent on things already ..i have been really motivated by you guys and have been reading all the threads about cheap meals and recipes and have began to write a shoping list down for online shop i plan to do. Th elast few days i have been out tio loacl shops an dbought munchies , and a few frozen bits / tins etc and have already spent £24.46 on nothing really .
I have found alot of money has gone on things for dd whilst out shopping i bought her a hot dog today , but decided to share with her instead of buying 2 , also ice cream at the park etc, is really eating !! pardon the pun} into my budget over a fiver in the last couple of days ..so any ideas would be great?
But on the good side of things i have saved money when ive bought discounted bread an froze it for later in the week , so the ideas on her are fantastic and hope i save loads..thankyou:rolleyes:

The first shop was £141 as the house was empty, but the second there is no excuse.

Hi Moonflower, Check your amount on the first few posts of this discussion. They are listed at what you set at the beginning of the month, in alphabetical order.

    You set £230.
I don't get to come on here too often.
    Too buzy money saving!
    :D
  • Oh no I have failed miserably. I have still until the 30th March to go.

I do have food in the freezer although its mostly bread.

Also masses of pasta any ideas.
