Mine was exactly the same MrsMc. I was wasting money on whoopsies! Now I focus on protein (same really, meat, cheese) and jump on good fruit and veg until mine starts coming through. Only had mustard/cress so far, tho lovely in egg sandwiches.
Would you believe I even went back into buying sliced ham instead of cooking my own. Rectified that last weekend when I realised how much money I was wasting.
Never stopped baking my own bread, tho. I'm an OS girl at heart.
Roll on sunny days and so much rocket salad I was shoving in every meal. Yummy. Oh the pounds to be saved. :T
Oh by the way, would you add my budget to the roll next month so I feel like I've made a commitment, MrsMc?

We are the same :rotfl: I have finally realised that I was still spending more than I needed to -by getting seduced by "whoopsies" -buying things that I wouldn't normally  ... so now -if it isn't something I would normally use I don't get it... so its mainly meat and cheese I get . I now shop about once a month and like you -my hubby picks up milk, salad etc on his way home from work and never gets things that aren't on the list :j -its better for our budgetand for hubby as he has to pass on the way home from work...rather than coming home, getting changed, picking me up and then going back -so we are both happyMmmmmm seems we are all realising the same thing. Whoopsie's are not always needed and we only need to go to the shop when we really need something.
:j Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! We cracked it! :jI don't get to come on here too often.
Too buzy money saving!0 -
Just popping in to say hi and I think we may have overspent this month:o
There may have been wine and cider that snuck into the trolley and I admit I completely forgot to factor in the cost of the Mother's Day lunch and 'bring your own dish' party.
Never mind, only a week to go and I think I'll go on the storecupboard challengeCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Just a little spend of £2.84 today.
When I did the big shop at the weekend I was only able to get 2 x litre cartons of the ‘discount brand’ OJ, as that was all they had left. At 48p each it is cheaper than the value, basics or SP & is 100% juice. So I grabbed a couple more today, as we get through a lot of fruit juice.
And I got a 1kg pack of beef mince whoopsied to half price. This was the only meat I wanted to add to the stock in the freezer. M&S did have the ½ price large Oakham chickens, but I really didn’t need any more chicken. There are only two of us & there is enough food in to feed a small army already!0 -
good evening....we are back from kick boxing...not me ds....we went to asda and got a funny range of reduced stuff...i pork chop 29p...large pots of yogurt 19p each....organic pork mince 37p (original price £4.07:eek: )roast pork 24p (original price 2 packs for £4)....i love it when i come out with a ready steady cook bag of random stuff... the cashier must think i eat a strange mixture
i hope people enjoy the m and s stuff...ithink the oakham chickens are nice....i got profiterolls sp? for £1 today and we ate them(on the drive on arriving back from school)and really enjoyed them...a quid well spent... m and s are reducing stuff instead of sending it to landfill...plan a or something so i pop in there quite a lot in the afternoon:cool:
take care

Ok, so I was being over-optimistic when I thought we wouldn't need another big shop this month!!:o
Just made lunches for me and OH for only the 3rd day this week, and we've used an entire jar of chutney between us, and we're dangerously low on marge. I had a rough meal-plan in my head for the week, but seem to have factored the same few ingredients into several meals - we can only eat them once! Will be doing another shop after all, but probably for delivery Friday/weekend, and should be able to stock up a bit for April at the same time (I'm working on calendar months).
I am still spending much less than before though, and I'll know better next month!!:D0 -
Popping in to update.
Yesterday took sister and her family out for a meal to thank for all the support they have given us recently.
Today I bought fruit to try and keep up with DS appetite as well as some emergency pizza's from Lidl, which will come in handy over the next few weeks when we are trying to get to grips with a new born ( as well as feeding the visitors).
