Morning all, so confess, who stole the sunshine?? lol

Shopped in Wilkinsons, Savers and Icelands yesterday, £7.20, £1.18 and £34.50. Bringing my spends so far to £145.42. Challenge ends midnight sunday 29th march. So apart from maybe a loaf and milk I'm almost done. never say never though lol.

Going to look into my April budget now, see my dates and what is resonable.

    have a good day :)
  • I will declare at £300 which is a bit of a guesstimate but I thinks its a little over but it will teach me for losing track!!!
April will be the same budget of £250 and I will decrease my annual spend accordingly
I have just ordered my big Mr T delivery and I am off to finish the meal plan ;)

    Hi everyone,
Not been on for ages (this thread I mean) and not really read the posts either (sorry!).
Not really CG'ing anymore cos I don't really have the time tbh, or it seems the inclination these days either.
Too many other things going on.
Still keeping my freezer inventory, sometimes meal planning etc but not keeping a strict list of spends as it is just too much for me.
Hope you all enjoying GC and getting what you need from it, remember it is not a competition but a learning curve which is as steep as you want to make it!

  • Thanks MrsM for changing my monthly to yearly budget. i know this will help me with motivation and not feeling so bad if I go over more one month and less the other. I am now bulk buying a lot more so this will help with my budget.

A good way to make a little left over chicken go a long way is a chicken and broccolli pie (I used to buy them in Asda in my ready meal days)

    Left over cooked chicken
    Left over cooked broccolli
    Well seasoned white sauce
    Mashed potato

Chicken, broccolli and sauce in the bottom of a dish with mash on the top. A little butter on the top and bake a la shepherds pie.

Thanks JayJay with the recipe, sounds yummy:drool: . Since I have a bit of chicken and some veg left over from yesterdays roast, will give this a go instead of the usually bubble and squeak.

Popping in to declare for the month, as OH has been paid. We have food for the week, and won't be doing another shop until the weekend (I get all the bread and milk in the weekly order). I am astounded to announce that I did it, for the second month in a row.

I was going to set a lower target for April but have realised it includes two weeks of school/uni holidays, and we'll be at home more (OH's lunches come out of 'his' budget, he doesn't take well to being restricted). Also, for about 7 days the children will need packed lunches at holiday club. Also, it seems to be a 5 week shopping month. So it's not a good month to try and cut our average spend down from £100 to £85. I'll compromise and set the target at £450.
    Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600
    Overpayments to date: £3000
    June grocery challenge: 400/600

    £2 club = £52  QUIDCO £22.39 :p
    Coke Codes/ New Look Vouchers £45 :T
    Credit Union £136.50
    MGC total/spent £150/£60.64:rotfl:
    AGC total/spent £240/£241.44
  • well we have already spent £347 pounds against my budget of £340. My OH really does resent being set any kind of spending challenge. He does most of the cooking and i am reliant on him to do a shopping list. Often he doesnt do it and ends up in Tesco spending a fortune. Which is what happened yesterday. We have two fridges, freezers and cupboards groaning with food, yet he still buys more. Im thinking of giving up as I am getting stressed with it all.

Can anyone send me a link to a Savoury mince cobbler recipe please:confused::confused:, Im sure my family would love this.

Hi mummyyof5 - how about Minced Beef Cobbler from elizabunny, found it on the first page in Post number 5 where all our recipes are listed alphabetically - hope that helps.;)

Have to confess that my Budget has been blown out of the water completely - the family decided to spoil me for Mothers Day, not realising that I only had less than £14 left, they visited the Butchers and bought sausages, bacon etc for a cooked brekkie and a leg of Lamb and then off to the Supermarket and bought lots of different goodies, I don't even know how much they have spent in total but all I can say is they waited on me all day yesterday and it was lovely - I can't declare a total for this month now so apologies and I promise it was a "one off".:o Also, to top it all off, DD1 handed me a list of ingredients that I had to buy this morning ready for Food Tech tomorrow so I've been fighting a losing battle.

Roll on my new Month which starts on Friday - MRSMC please put me down for £240 for April.

Dinner tonight is Lamb Curry(lamb leftover from Leg yesterday), rice and samosas.

    Have a good day everyone.:D
