A friend signed up recently. Looking at the offer magazines they sent out their prices are pretty poor, in fact they looked more like retail prices.0

 Been 2 Makro many times, you think u r getting a bargain, then wham bam they hit you with the VAT which you forgot about, making it more expensive than the high street shops.
Everytime we go i vow never to go again, the place is dead and then you realise everyone is waiting in the queue to pay and as usual only one till is open.
We have tried the cafe on a couple of occasions only to be disappointed.
I agree, that it is so annoying waiting to get your receipt stamped, every time we go my other-half refuses to wait and just walks out. Its just ridiculous! :mad:0 -
I went today to get mueller yogs bogof 6 pk and some bananas but there was a lady behind me who had only bought reduced stufee like back potatoes, cakes, chicken etc. So it really is like the corner shop and is a matter of being there at the right time. The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0

i forgot to add that they do good offers on CAT boots periodically, (that is, caterpillar boots for people, not boots for cats
) :
generally £29.99 for the steel toe ones (no vat as workwear)
and £29.99-£39.99+vat for normal ones, half price compared to the high street which i find just about makes makro worth it for meThe word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.
You ask for ADVICE not ADVISE.0 -
so what do they add VAT on and what don't they?Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!0

Been a Makro customer for many years.
Often buy toilet & kitchen roll when it is on offer (v often) and same with washing powder. OH buys a lot of tools there and they do seem to offer big reductions on tools when they are on special.
Dont ever forget the VAT myself but often round it down in my head so still can be surprised at checkout.
Generally go only once per month and the cafe - well just dont go there its horrible.
I do find the staff have no customer service - I noted the posters comments above who worked for Makro's - I personally have never been rude or shouted at a member of staff but some in my local Makro are downright rude though I must admit I dont go there for the customer service.0 -

most food (not treats ie biscuits) are vat free. Childrens clothes and kids shoes up to size 5 are vat free as are books. Everything else carries a vat charge.
you can ususally buy cheaper elsewhere anything like books anyway but some special food offers etc are worth checking outThe curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -
