It's a pity we can't get the same products in English stores that our neighbours North of the Border can get, but if you want Polish stuff that's no problem. Don't get me wrong, keep the "foreign" stuff but why 5 or 6 types of mayonnaise, ketchup and the like?

Haggis and Irn Bru? They're welcome to keep them.

  • Asda does some great deals.... last week they had packs of 15 Finish powerball dishwasher tablets for £1 each, down from £2.50, making them even cheaper than the Smartprice tablets.

They also had a good deal last week where you could buy two jars of Ragu (or one jar of Ragu and one bag of pasta if you preferred) for just a quid.

I used to buy all my shopping in Asda but have gone over to Sainsburys because they have a better range especially on value lines and they have some good offers at times
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Not Buying it 2015!
  • I mainly use Sainsburys because I get a staff discount, also because I do the price changes I can keep an eye on what is worth buying. But, I am happy to go to Asda or anywhere else if they have a good deal. ie a couple of weeks ago someone posted about Asda butter 47p stardrops 20p and chickens for £2 so I went and got a few of each. I also like Aldi for the bread and interesting deli stuff. Morrisons started the whole bogof thing and they still have some good deals. I also like thier bakery and fish counter.
I also use my local farm shop for free range eggs £1.20 per dozen and pork with 2 food miles.
I find that shopping around is the way to go. If you can be bothered that is.

Tesco coconut milk is 44p (Dunns River, world foods aisle) and 44p for Tesco organic if you have Tesco near you.

I looked for this at the weekend.

I could only find a block one that cheap, not a tin of milk.

Is it the block one you meant?

I really rate Morrisons bakery, best of thw big four BY FAR:D

Lucky thing that you can get a dozen farm eggs for £1.20, my local farm have 20 for £3.00 (on special offer).

Shopping around is only practical if you don't work full time, I do. But As I have loads locally I tart between them & if some I WOULD BUY AT FULL PRICE is on offer, I stock up:D

I went to Asda too, usually a Sainsburys shopper and found the bread items pretty awful. I love hot cross buns and they are really dry. I still got a packet in the freezer. DH thinks it's great because I dont want to eat them but don't want to buy any more until I've finished them.

One good thing that I didn't know was when you shop on line and they don't have something if they substitute something else if it is more expensive they will only charge you the same as the item you ordered. Which I did think was very good.

Yup, it's just such a sleezeball tactic, isn't it? I do laugh when folk complain about the "aisles of foreign food in my British supermarket", lol. Go and have a look at it instead!

I do valk. In ours it's all Polish fruit juices and that rubbish. We only have a rather small Tesco, access to other stores is out cos we don't have a car nor can we drive. When you can't buy basics like milk, mushrooms and bread but you can buy polish obscure items and chinese sweets , sorry but something is very wrong.

    no, its def a tin

if you go to tesco online shopping, and search for coconut milk, it should bring up all the tins stocked at your local store. that way you know what tin to look out for. in my local store its in with the Caribbean foods on the International Foods Aisle. I think the brand varies, depending on what they can get in at a good price at the time.
