I need a mobile phone!! However I only need this in order to keep me contactable in case of emergencies, therefore my usage will be very minimal, approx. 2 - 4 outgoing calls per month and 5 - 10 incoming calls per month.
Does anybody know if there is anything available out there that would suit my requirements.

mobilephobic,
get a hand me down nokia then put one of the free o2 sim cards in it. Someone's always got a spare one on here if you ask nicely......and then the window licker said to me...0 -
Just bought a Nokia 3510i (for my mother for xmas) at Currys for £30. (This phone is £50 in Carphone Warehouse.)
Used my £40 Currys voucher that I got for switching my energy to Powergen and bought other stuff to make it up to £40
Now that is real money saving!0 -

I have been looking on the O2 site and can only find one PAYG tarrif - "Online Pay As You Go Talkalot", this seems to need £10 per month top up. Are there sims available which do not have a monthly top up requirement. If so what are they?
I am looking for two sims to go in to two old Nokia 5110s so we can use them when away on holiday.

the "cheapest" PAYG IMHO is from CPW Fresh Mobile. 15p/minute for landline AND cross network! i only use Fresh Mobile for my cross network calls. text is at 5p!!!
have a look at https://www.freshmobile.co.uk0 -
Fortyfoot,
you only have to put £10 per month on the o2 sim if you want to keep getting the free 300 texts each month.
If you were to put £10 on and then just run it down as and when you used the phone as per mobilephobic, then it would last substantially longer. You would get 300 free texts each time you topped up....and then the window licker said to me...0 -

I can only find it on their website for £60 on Virgin. Have you seen it in store?Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
On the PAYG front - once you've got a phone - buy a Tesco mobile SIM for £4.50 or £8 for two. Your three favourite numbers are 10p a minute - cheap way of calling cross net.0

Ive got the 02 sim cards PAYG - only problem is if you need help or assistance - its 60pence a minute tel number - no way around it0
