Because I am silly and typed £69.49 by mistake instead of £49.69---:o
    Sorry.

i was told it was £48.72 where does it say £49.69 ?
i had a call yesterday confirming the disability child premium and today got the forms for carers allowance glad to see its a little less taxing to fill in compared to the DLA form. phewww.

Because I am obviously having a very bad day and shouldn't be near the pc...:rotfl:

If they are telling you £48.72 then I'd believe them - once the premiums are added to their system, then they are calculated automatically.

Thanks, i have had the forms for carers allowance and filled it in i rang enquiry line for advice on date to fill in as his DLA was awarded from 1st march 08 but due to the time it takes to process we only just got the aproval letter last week, they wasnt to helpful and said she couldnt say what date to put, i have put 1st march on it now and hope for the best.

I went to the council also and informed them of the DLA seems it wont effect our entitlement to council tax which is quite a relief.:j

On a forward note, i have just arranged a nice trip for my son and daughter for summer holidays to science museum in london they do some good consessions for those on DLA and carers are free.

Generally, when it comes to DLA and other benefits, they increase; never go down.

    Hi
The rule pretty much (super shortened) if you get any Income support you get housing / council tax benefit - even if just a few pounds IS - gives you the free prescriptions etc too

I get carers allowance for my hubby, plus he gets incapacity benefit, and disability living, middle rate.We also get a top up from income support. He turns 60 in nov and they`ve said he can`t claim income support then but something called tax credits??
They said i could claim income support for the 2 of us then or he claims the tax credits.
If he got the credits would we be better off weekly? can anyone tell me, thanks

Does anybody know why invalid care allowance stops when you reach 60
I have been looking after my Disabled Daughter for 38 years, I was sixty in April 2007 and my i c a stopped because I became a pensioner, but the caring didn`t stop I`m still lifting wheelchair in and out of the car and lots of other things that go with having a disabled person to look after so why should the benifit stop. after all i`m still doing the work. if I went out to work and carried on working after sixty I would still get paid and have my pension or do the govenment think because i`m sixty my Daughter can now fend for herself, anybody know the answer. jackco

This is a direct quote from the government website

    "How much do you get?

The weekly rate is £50.55. This is reduced by the amount of certain other benefits, including State Pension, that you receive. If you receive certain other benefits at £50.55 or more a week, Carer's Allowance cannot be paid to you as well.
You may be able to get an additional amount for your husband, wife or civil partner or someone living with you who looks after your dependent children."

    More info here

It is because you are now getting your state pension you can't have both.

    Yours
