Pretty good so far after a couple of days.
One warning though, there are no updated drivers available from Linksys for the PC Card that comes with it. Happily my laptop has WiFi built in so it doesn't bother me.
If you get problems with the 2003 driver the PC card comes with you may get stuck.0 -
Hi again and thanks to everyone's reply regarding getting this router to work with AOL. I have had brilliant results from posting on the techie stuff forum and now it is not only working with AOL but works without the need for the intrusive AOL software being installed on my PC. Fantastic.
One question though please, does it normally come with the external aerial (my didn't) and what difference would one make? The reason I am asking obviously is because I saw the connector but no aerial supplied!!
P.S. Here is the link to my AOL post if anyone is needing help with AOL (Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh).

If you read the guff that comes with it (or possibly a PDF from their web site) then the external aerial isn't supposed to be permitted in the UK - one of the requirements for unlicensed use of these frequencies.0

I collected mine yesterday but now would like either a 'Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter' to go in the back of my PC or I've seen a 'WIFI 802.11G 54MBPS USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter 54G'.
Can anyone tell me which is best to go for?
If its the USB then how can I tell if it will be compatible?
thanks in advance for any help0 -
I got a Belkin USB widget when I got the Linksys from PCWorld. Works fine.
Does anyone know of a cheap PCI card that the laptop adapter would plug into?0 -
Tried Belkin but had to return it as it didn't work for some reason. Now using Linksys WUSB54G which seems to be more successful.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

i went into the shop at bedford on thursday.
they had them in but said i needed to order over the net
then on thursday night that the price on the website had gone up to 49.99.
one page on the site still had them at 39.99.
i went back to the shop on friday morning and saw a different assistant.
he was great with me i asked if i could have one from the store as i wanted it that day,he checked online and they were still 39.99.
he procceded to order for me online and i paid with credit card (his preference).
walked out of the store with one under my arm.
must say he gave me great service.

You may find the occasional "cheap" one on eBay - typically search for PCI and PCMCIA (the old name for the PC Card interface) - but typically they're £10-£30 each which given the extra layers of complexity and software drivers - and your aerial trapped round the back of your PC in among all the wiring probably false economy.
Really best buying a £15-£20 USB adapter for the PC and recoup what you can by flogging on the PC Card/PCMCIA adapter.0
