    Hi

Can someone please help me with this setup. I have everything working all the lights come on etc but it can not connect to the internet. My bt broadband when plugged in works fine however the linksys just keeps failing to connect to the net. I just keep getting unable to establish a connection.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks

    Hi
bought mine yesterday and had the same problem, phoned there help line and decided it was a duff modem, changed it today for another one and it still had the same problem. I felt a proper fool when I realised that I had the wrong username from bt.

You should be using something like (your name) p****.k****@btbroadband.com
then try the password - bt - or admin
    these are bt's default passwords

after I changed these to the above I made the connection no problems.

try phoning their free help line which is detailed in the envelope that came with it. They are really helpful.

try phoneing bt who will confirm the password / username

    hope this helps
  • Picked mine up this afternoon. Works fine and also with Belkin USB widget picked up at the same time. Upgraded the firmware as people suggest but find that logging doesn't seem to log anything other than bootups anymore and I can't get a DHCP client list for wired - button is grayed out. Can't see old firmware on their site - shame.

I don't think it'll work with AOL. In pcw they told me that you have to have netgear routers to work with AOL. They asked me what BB provider I was with when I bought it, and told me it wouldn't work with AOL.......

It does work woth AOL, only need to change the MTU to 1400 in the router settings.

If your having problems connecting, try unpluging the Linksys from the mains once you have set everything up, then plug it back in again, worked for me.

One of the routers I set up had the internet setting switched off. This resulted in the green DSL light being on but the (last) internet light being off. Check for this, I think the on/off setting is in one of the tabs to the right of the setup screen.

In other words, the router will work with AOL, it's just that AOL may not work with the router. Save the grief, junk AOL and move to a real ISP.
