New washing machine - Which one??
Comments
-
Hi,
My old mum - she'd kill me for saying that - has been asking me to find her a cheapish washing machine (not more than £250), with a 1400 or 1600rpm spin speed. She's in her 70's, so looking for a company that will dispose of her old machine (not fitted), deliver and fit the new one, so in other words to be as painless an experience as possible!
I've looked around online, but seem to be running in circles. Sainsbury's dispose of the old machine(for £13), but it doesn't appear that they'll fit the new one up. John Lewis - who I saw recommended on here - also dispose, for £9, but only provide recommended fitters via their site (and don't fit themselves).
So... am looking for a 1400-to-1600rpm spin speed, removal of the old machine, fitting of the new one, all for less than £250-to-£275 (including removal and fitting service) and all by the one company. Surely not too much to ask!?!
Any guidance would be much appreciated,
Cheers,
Mac
P.s. She's based in south west London.0 -
Has the old machine got any life left in it, if so then the British Heart Foundation will take it and sell it in one of their shops.
Fitting the new machine is not difficult, two hoses one waste pipe and plug it in, can't you do it for her? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Unfortunately, the old machine has completely packed up, despite having been repaired recently. But I will bear the BHF in mind for future donations.
I've fitted one for her previously, so may well end up doing it. But from her point of view, I think she just wanted it all ready there and then when they deliver. I'm guessing nowhere fits then, since I've had no other responses.
Thank you for your reply, though, penrhyn.
Thanks for the welcome Nile

I recently heard that Bosch, Siemens, AEG and Electrolux are now all part of the same outfit.
Anyone else heard that?0 -
Bosch and Siemens domestic appliances are a joint venture between Robert Bosch and Siemens AG.
AEG is an Electrolux brand as is Zanussi. Their other brands are here:http://www.electrolux.com/node174.aspx
If they have all combined its news to me.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Yeah, thinking about it, it sounds quite implausible to me too.0 -
I have owned 2 bosch machines both perfect never broke down the only reason i have had 2 is when i moved the new owner asked if i could leave the first one as she didnt have a machine.I had no hesitation in buying another bosch for my new house. Also I have found bosch customer services to be brilliant I broke the handle on my bosch fridge freezer "due to me not getting my head out of the way when i swung the fridge door open" I phoned them up expecting a charge as the fridge was 8 years old but they sent 2 new handles next day free hows that for service0

That's interesting. I'm on about my 4th Bosch fridge/freezer handle, which just seems to develop cracks for no reason and they've always charged me for them. The item is now about 6 years old.
All of my appliances are Bosch and I have to say that overall i've been a bit disappointed...
Extractor fan - Stopped a few months ago due to fuse. Integral light always playing up too.
Built in oven - Inner glass door broke recently. £116 for me to fix myself with new part.
Hob - Needed fixing within first few months when the handles seized up.
Washing machine - First one lasted 6 years. So not too bad, but would expect longer from Bosch really. Present one seems to be going OK now but needed repairing within first 6 months.
Fridge/Freeser - As above.
I'm looking to get a dishwasher soon and for the first time in years will be getting another make - most likely Miele.0 -
Hi,
Can recommend a Siemens. Got one of those. Which? recommended a model I bought a year ago. look at the siemens site to choose a model - don't know the current range now. Use pricerunner.co.uk to check where to get a good price. In terms of service, I have used http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/ to buy the last three white goods recently. Often a very good price, better than the price comparison sites say, and their delivery is not bad either. You can choose a day to deliver in many cases, and usually within the week. Very friendly staff too if you need to call them.
Cheers,
