Hi everyone I hope you can help me.....
I already have a Linksy Router its a G one if that makes sense?
I have ordered a Linksy N Router.
At the moment my laptop is only getting 54.0 mbps
Would it make the internet any faster??
Many Thanks

Unless you happen to be paying a huge amount for commercial fibre-optic broadband, no. Will it do anything else if you have no N-compatible kit, no. Will it speed up file transfers with N-ready or wired kit - yes, as much as a factor of two.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

What would make it faster? As it has 2 laptops running off it and it seems that both are running slow, I could probably run faster

What is running slow? Your internet will be slower than 54mbps, so improving the router will do nothing to help with the bottleneck.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

The internet is running slow, it takes forever to load pages up or if you refresh more than 1 page at once it will just not do anything. It has been like it for a while and thought the router would of sorted it out. I'll send it back tomorrow when it comes0

Go to https://www.speedtest.net and post your stats from that. Also post what service you're supposed to be getting.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Hi Steph
>At the moment my laptop is only getting 54.0 mbps
That is a standard "over the air-wireless" max, (max) speed you could achieve
Wired is 100 mbps much faster. However the "internet" to your home is less than 6 mbps, a new router then is not required just yet.
You need to clean up the PC to get more performance. Can you tell us the specs?0 -
He doesn't say his PC is running slow, just the internet (at least, that's my reading of it). We need to see those speedtest stats. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

That upload speed is pretty dire. Have you got a filter on every phone socket on the same line as the router?Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

I have given up on my Linksys router and the telephone support. It's easier to use another connection.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
