Does anyone know if when using one of the Sainsbury's '£10 off a £50 shop' coupon in Tesco's, can you include a phone top-up of, say £10 in that £50, meaning you only have to buy £40 of actual shopping to get to use the £10 coupon?

I have done this before with no problem - you're still spending the £50 after all!!

I don't see theres any guilt here. It exposes you had a suspicion that you might be charged the wrong price.

Now people adding their own sel, or looking for old ones (turned over or behind the edging)... now i bet theres a problem... mrs by the liquidiser it's you i'm talking about.

If it's me you are referring to, I am not by the liquidiser. Looked at them yesterday in local T and unfortunately no misprices!!

    Don't waste your words I don't need,
    Anything from you.
    I don't care where you've been or,
    What you plan to do.
  • After asking earlier this evening about out of date promotional SEL's i took the plunge and managed to obtain a R+R on a Panasonic DVD Recorder that had a yellow out of date SEL displaying £109.97 but got charged £149.97. R+R no problem, CS lady couldn't have been nicer!!

In my line of work, I've worked on 4 different Customer Service Desks, so that’s around 80+ customer service staff I've got to know on a personal level. Now I can honestly say that none of them would behave in such a manner as you mentioned due to an overcharge.

I find the fact that you say staff behaviour changes in such a way when overcharged is mentioned is completely and utterly rubbish on almost every occasion. I am insulted that you would say such things about my staff. I’m not denying that it doesn’t happen, however I can almost guarantee that it is a very rare occurrence..

However I will also put water to the fire of any claim which are not of 100% accurateness.

    Hi cs_guy,
just out of curiosity, when you say "my staff" are you some sort of supervisor or manager? The reason i ask is if you are then you may not be aware of how cs staff react in your abscence, but then if you are not it makes no difference as i don`t think people on here would make up all the times they have had poor treatment and rudeness for r&r, why should they? After all the customer is always right!

I don't think i'd have the nerve to try it with something that big again, but many many thanks for all the tescos posters who have shown me how to grab a bargain!! :):)

I feel exactly the same way, CS staff are so rude, that it puts me off going for refund, whole point of their rudeness I spose.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

Just tried for one of these, CS person agreed I was over charged as did the security person, the manager who later turned out to not be the manager turned up and told me the dvd recorder wasnt on offer as it ended on the 21st so I hadnt been over charged. I was offered the diference but they wouldnt r+r.

HO CS also said due to the offer end date I wasnt entitled to r+r

Yes, I'm a Customer Services Manager. However I know my staff well, and work with them often and I still stand by what I said about them earlier.

I would also like to say that I am not trying to give the impression that at times bad, and at times appauling customer service is never delivered - because it does as can be seen my looking at this forum. All I'm saying is that the amount of times it happens is minute, when put against the thousands of occasions nationwide excellent customer service is delivered.

Now in no way am I trying to defend Tesco, like I said I'm just correcting thoose who are wrong and try to say that i happens ALL the time.
