  • In St helens tonight where the motorola phone is with all the other phones. they have put a yellow card to say that this phone is not included in the offer which is on the leaflets that they have below there phone stand.

this yellow card is there twice.

also there is a misprice in st helens and i can't be arsed going for it as everytime i go to st helens i get the 3 blonde witches from eastwick on the customer services. The young lad i can take.

On the back wall where the tv are there is a technick little stero it is priced at 2 different prices something like £11.98 and £11.97 not sure if anyone wants to try this. But i can't be bothered.

On the other side of the coin though there is no obligation for them to offer R&R on anything so I guess we should be grateful for what there is (I'm sure I'll be critised for THAT line).

Just some thoughts to kick around :)

Actually there is. It is part of their "Refund Policy" to do this. It is not a gesture of goodwill or even a favour, but written in stone, and something that must be applied. If you want to see it, Im happy to copy the confirmation head office printed me regarding it.

Another basic law of trading is that you simply cant advertise one thing and do another whenever you feel like it, or whenever its not convenient for you to do so. Its about standards. Tesco's should uphold what they advertise, or face the wrath of the law in my opinion.

That's what I was getting at in my last post. Tesco customers can buy confidently, knowing that the R+R policy is there if they get overcharged. Failure to fulfill that policy could well be argued as false advertising.
  • Hi guys

I went down to Mr T's in Hayes, Middx tonight for shopping and thought I'd have meself one of those nice 171's and they had none in stock :(

but then I stumbled across the Siemens A57 which had an SEL of £24.99 but was £29.99 on the leaflet. I checked the price on the scanner in there and sure enough it was £29.99 so I grabbed two (nice little pressie for my mum).

Also picked up some 1/2 legs of lamb but shopping was £100 so don't think I'm taking the mick too much.

Anyway they gave me R&R on lamb but refused it on these phones only offering me them for £24.95. The lady removed SEL as well so I had no proof so eventually I just took the £59.94 refund.

Should I complain to CS at H/O or is it not worth it now I've had my cash back?

ps - my g/f was miffed (strong words not allowed) so we went to another Tesco store on the way home and I managed to get R&R on a v171. Price was £49.97 SEL so paid the cash, went back 5 mins later and after some arguments they gave me the R&R. CS did say the leaflet was a mistake but would honour it this once.

    Happy again :grinheart

R&R Total for 2006 = £71.51 (Only started in Feb)
  • Bagged 2 V171s on Tuesday thanks to OP. Have monitored situation since and have been astounded at the way Tescos have wriggled out of honouring their own policy. There never used to be so much arguing/confrontation in getting refunded. It looks like the goalposts are moving. Is this the beginning of the end for r+r?

Would it be beneficial in the long run if we took an r+r break (not easy for the addicted), left it alone until say after easter, let them relax a little, then continue with the sport?

I was working away yesterday so I popped in to the local tesco found the v171's and leflets still on the rack below the phones picked a phone up and bought it at £47.97 so proceded to CS for my r+r the cs person was happy to refund the £10 differnence after consulting the store manager. I then proceded to go for the r+r by pointing out the poster behind her she then got on the phone again to the manager who then came out and said they had received an email about not honouring the r+r on the phone.

I phoned HO and they were saying that the price on the lefflet was correct at time of going to press but the price changed after they were printed and thier legal team had looked in to the leflet and decided they didnt have to honour the policy. they were also going on about the point of sale showing the price as £47.97 on the SEL I may be wrong but isnt the POS the checkout? where there were lefflets also?

I scanned the lefflet over and over as have the managers at the other store I managed to get an r+r and no where doest it say prices only correct at time of press. I decided I needed to get home for the football and took a refund without phone but managed to keep the recipt and lefflet

ohh I forgot the poster I pointed out the policy on was also removed from the wall,

I think I should be sending these to TS maybe?

c,mon chaps - do you think we should all calm down here!
i was so delighted that i found one of my own r+r to help you all (instead of finding one here) but i am so sorry that i seem to have caused so much anxiety.
I have been fobbed off loads of times on other r+r and although i get a bit miffed i just tend to think i haven't been ripped off merely lost out on a freebie.
well i am off on a weekend away so wont be watching this thread over the weekend(my oh thinks i am so addicted he is banning me from any internet cafe!!)
would it be in order and fun to find out how many v171 phones have been bagged by msers?

I got two and was refused two at another Tesco because "you are an habitual abuser going around lots of stores obtaining refunds!". Funny it's my fault they overcharge me, so sent an email to Terry Leahy on this topic and asking to check my details. When they do this, it will be found that we actually spend quite a lot of money at Tesco and have only visited 3 stores in the last year. I am greatly looking forward to the response - will I be officially banned (off to the papers with that one) or will they approve my actions. Seems abit of a win win situation! :happyhear

Excellent comment tracy, i was very miffed when slough removed the sel on a dyson i purchased and then denied its existance to wriggle out of an r+r .

sorry for mentioning this again but i like naming and shaming slough lol

Oppps sorry. I don't think I worded my original post clearly :) What I meant was there is no obligation for Tesco to have the R&R policy in the first place. For example if they withdrew the R&R policy and took the signage down it would be perfectly legal. I agree that if they have the policy and advertise it they have to stick to it though.
